Default MAF ends question

I just purchased Tbryne MAF ends and i have been hearing that these will lean out the car because they have no screen and they inside is few mm bigger in diameter than a stock MAF....is this true??? I do have a Vinci VHP tuner, so cant i just add 5 or 10% more fuel to fix this problem???
Any info will help.....

personally, they do nothing for hp power, but your tuning issues sound correct, check the tuning section, someone definatly be able to specifically answer that.

I put them on my A4 years ago. I felt a difference. 98's tend to run richer so maybe that was why. Then all the posts about A4's and tranny problems came up due to ported maf ends,so i sold them.

Corvettes with the A4 tranny have problems that result from ported maf ends????? I have a 2000C5 A4....and i would like to hear more about this. Has anyone else heard about this happening???????

i answered your post on corvette forum. as far as trans issues goes, i've had mine on the wife's car for well over a year now. never had any trans issues due to it. with the larger MAF ends, there is unmetered air going past it. this in turn goes uses a different load table which in turn determines shift points and firmness. this was thought to cause trans issues. IMO, more a myth than fact.

what did cause trans issues was oiled type of air filters like amsoil and k/n. people would over oil them this, in turn, would get on the MAF wires. causing them to misread what air was coming in.

Thats why I always use paper filter, oiled air fitlers are just a dumb design and i cant believe people still use them.
