Here's my clearance. Anyone else's looks like this or have better clearance than this with these headers?

my fathers pacesetters had the same problem, he loosened both bolts on the steering shaft and slid it down, that changed the angle and gave him about 1/4-1/2 clearance from the header

When I installed my headers, the headers were bumping the steering column. My motor mounts had some play in them so we unbolted the motor mount and just moved it a little and rebolted it, no problems since.

I wonder if they have slightly changed their design...I see this thread with no clearance by the steering column...and another thread where a guy had to grind some of his frame for clearance....

My QTP's slid right in, and I would guess I have around an inch of clearance there.

Ewwww. Has it messed up the header or is that a reflection?

Every car is different, those headers might slide in purty on someone elses car. That one set of headers might also be a little tweaked, which happens in manufacturing all the time.



BTW - when you unbolt that section of the steering shaft, make sure you put a little blue loctite on the set screws, they come with thread locker from the factory and I'd hate to see one fly off.

Do you know if your Rack may have been changed at one time? Some Aftermarkets change the angle of the Shaft and make Header install a nightmare. There's a big difference. I've been through it. Only thing you can do is Loosen the Shaft, slide it down and play wth it. Make sure your comfortable with the length of engagement of the top sleeve of the shaft. As long as you can feel play when you grab and shake your steering shaft, it's not touching and should be OK.

Loosen all the header bolts and push up the collector from the bottom.You need 2 people.I also ripped off the QTP logo when I did this it gave me clearance clarence.If that don't work take the header back off header heat it up with a torch. Heat up that spot until it's red hot and ding it.

I'll see what can be done. Yea the damn shaft rubbed on the header so now it has that little rub mark. Maybe it will come off, but who knows.

Are you back in the Bronx or are you in Fla still?Make sure you do something about it.The Steering linkage won't brake but you might damage the header .

I'm in the Bx. I have to take it back to TTP to finish the tune and I'll make them aware of the clearance issue with the header. I knew that my steering felt strange for some reason and that's when I noticed the clearance problem. The car sounds badass Pete, you gotta hear it one day.

i'm a machinist so i done what a machinist/fabricator would do=i took it off,scribed a straight line down the side of it,cut out a 3" long section and welded a smaller diameter piece in.mine was rubbing so bad the steering wheel was hard to turn but now no problems,of course having metal and a mig welder at my disposal makes it much easier.maybe ttp can adjust your headers some.
