Default MS3 Guys Inside

hey guys, have a question about my MS3 cam

I've never heard a camm'ed LS1 before

My motor sounds like a sewing machine, but more like the tick tick sound...not like a bad rocker, but just more of a solid sound...like a sewing machine

TSP said it should sound more like a humming

does anybody have any suggestions? Could something be wrong?

I haven't driven it much, I pulled the drivers side valve cover today, none of the rocker bolts were loose or anything, i put locktite on them when I did the install

thanks guys

yea, you should check the preload, your pr are probably to short, the sewing machine sound isn't normal by any means, its common yes. by having correct lenght of pushrod, you will probably gain an extra couple ponies also.

i torqued them down to whatever the install uni. said to do...so i'm assuming the preload is right?

what should i do? I've got to get this thing dyno tuned soon also

Torquing down the bolt has nothing to do with preload, the lenght of your push rod is what matters about preload. The base circle of the aftermarket cams(XE-R lobe) is smaller then stock so now you have a greater distance between the cam lobe and your rocker. The ticking noise you prolly are hearing is becuase the push rod is prolly a little to short and cuaseing not enough preload.

I would recomend a 7.425 length Push rod with a xe-r lobed cam like the ms3.
