Default Battery problem?

For the last few times that I have driven my '98 my check gauge light has been on. My battery gauge is reading between 8-12 amps but still starts repeatedly. Once on, the gauges and headlights are really dim and the radio keeps cutting out. I left it on today for 15 minutes with occassional light revs and the battery didn't charge up at all. The battery that I have is one that I bought from Costco or Kragens a few years ago and I assume should still be good. Is it time for a new battery or what?

You could have a alternator, or voltage regulator problem, which is built into the alternator. I woulld test voltage with a volt meter.
