I have just purchased a 99 trans am and just the other night I ran into a lil problem with my lights. I had turned my lights on and by the time I got to the end of my street, both headlamps turned off but my lids stayed up. I then turned the lights off and tryed to turn them back on but the lids closed and no lights would turn back on or would the lids come up. Every time I would attempt to turn to lights on it would dim all the lights in the car like it was sucking alot of power and then if I was to sit there with the light switch turned on, my switch would make a wierd tickin noise and my dash lights would kind of flicker everytime it ticked, but never would my headlights come on. Once I let the car sit all night and get back in it the next day some times my lights will work again, but it just seems that everytime it gets dark and I need the lights they turn off on me within 10-15 minutes after I have them turned on. Im kind of thinking its in my switch but im no mechanic and dont know. Anyone who knows what this problem could be please repost and let me know what you think. Thanks

I have the same problem with my '98 Camaro minus the lids of course. I have swapped out the light switch but still does the same thing :bang: Must be some kind of short between the switch and the lights but I'm darned if I can find it. Any tips???

Maybe the light sensor? I guess that's what it's called. My SS automaticaly turns on the lights in certain degrees of twighlight to dark, do Pontiacs do that too? Just seems to me that it has to be a sensor cause there are at least ten thousand on my car.

I purchased a used one to replace mine and that didn't solve the problem.Maybe I should break down and buy a new one from the dealership and see if that's any better. I tried for a new one from Napa but they said three weeks to get one into Canada.
