Default Launching a TCI 3000

What RPMs to you guys launch your High Stall TC's at?

Do you go from idle and flash it?

Or do you load it upto about 2,000 RPM then floor it?

For best results ( I done the search thing)

My best results with that converter and MT DR's were from flashing it from idle.

My TCI likes being stalled to 2000 and then to the floor on the green.

Default launching a TCI 3000

I tried a launch today from a traffic light, I built some revs in there 1800 rpm and then floored it when the lights change. I had the Gtech on to measure 0-60mph and I fishtailed away quite a bit of wheel spin. I don't normally have that much. I got 5.47 to 60 mph when my previous best was 5.04 with the stock TC.

Looks like I need to work on my launch more to minimise wheel spin!

Or save up for some DR's

Thanks for the replies keep em coming!

i have a tci 3000 also. it depends on where im racing.
generally speaking, my best times at the track are from just flooring it.
most of the time nowadays, i just rev it to about 1200-1300 rpm and hopefully i hook.
i have to replace the nittos with a better tire.

My best results are from heating up the Nittos good and long (10 seconds of seeing smoke) and then flashing the converter off idle. If the track was prepped decent I usually hook for some low 1.8 60'. I still spin a tad so I'm thinking with M/T street radials or slicks I could see some 1.7's.

Good luck.

For the street you can forget flashing the converter. That really only works at the track. First, I do recommend Nitto 555R drag radials. They last the longest and perform the best in the rain (but you still need to be careful). You can usually get them for about $130 each so they are not that bad on your pocket book either.

My advice for the street is:

1). Get some Nittos.

2). Rev it up to 2000 rpm's

3). Feather into the launch. A little practice and you'll figure out how much it too little and how much is too much.

Good Luck and stay safe.

I was thinking of getting some Nittos, after I see how the car hooks when I go drag racing on the 13th and 14th this month.

I have kind of a strange wheel size on my car 8" rims with 245/45 zr 17's Michillan Pilot sports. They grip pretty good out of the hole!

My car came into the UK from Germany and it must have had the alloys fitted there. I think they maybe a BMW rim not sure has anyone ever tried BMW rims on there car?

Do they do Nittos in 245/45 17 I found some on the Summit Racing web site they were NT555 are they Drag Radials? ( newbie to DR's)

Yes they should be drag radials if they end with an R. I looked at Jegs and they have NT555R 245/45/17 drag radials. Just remember that street traction is always limited and at the track a long burnout is a must because Nittos do not hook up well unless they are hot.

Here is a link to Jegs website so you can compare sizes and prices if you like.

Thanks for that. I didn't do a burnout at the traffic light
That would have been showing off!

I usually do a good burnout before I race and our track prep is pretty good because they run some 7 second cars during the days racing so they spray the track with that grip juice stuff what ever it is?

Now all I need to do is find out how much $158 tires cost in rip off Britain!

The cost of shipping these from USA will prolly be to much because of the size and weight.

I have the TCI 3000 as well. When I went to the track I heated the Nitto's and then stalled it to 2200-2300 RPM. All my 60 ft times were in the 1.7s with a best of 1.73 with the factory 2.73 gears. I am putting in 3.42 this weekend and heading to the track to see how she does. This time I'm going off idle at the line

i cut high-mid 1.6 60' with my 4k stall when my car was almost stock (just a lid and gears at the time). i torqued it up as much as it would before pushing the front tires. flashing it from idle or anything below 2k doesn't work for my setup.

lately i haven't hit a prepped night so i've had to roll into the throttle from an idle and still spin ~ 20'..

once you are cammed along with a stall, the nittos dont work all to well.

I found that with a stock motor, any attempt to stall up this converter with Nittos equalled wheelspin - even after a great burnout. My best runs with Nittos required me easing it out before I went WOT. With MT's, I floor it and go - and hook every time.

I have a 3500 stall, rev it up to around 2600, and ease into the throttle, but it still launches harder than any of my friends. im going to the track tomorrow, so hopefully can see what kinda 60 ft I'll get.
