Default Is my motor going to die on me?

Ok my car is a very lightly modded cars, intake, exhaust, thats about it... my car smokes blue smoke at WOT, probably 4500 to 6000rpms. It doesnt burn oil all that much, approx. 1 qt per 1000 miles driving fairly hard. a little more if I ***** foot it. but the reason Im writing in, is I am about 2 days away from installing breathers and eliminating my pcv. so if that doesnt help I think that it is my rings, I am doing a compression test next month, so I should probably wait to do that before I diagnose this problem. I had also heard about removing my oil cap while at idle and rev it up a little bit and check how much air is comin out of the valve cover, will this help in determining if it is my rings that are in fact toast. If any1 can chime in with their 2 cents Id greatly appreciate it, I just want know if anyone has maybe experienced this problem, also If indeed my rings are toast how safe is this car as a daily driver, I put approximently 500 miles a week I do not want a ring to fail and get ingested all over my engine and completely destroy it, so I am just wondering how safe or worried I should or should not be,

P.S. no boost or nitrous that I have ever ran in it, bought the car with 9k on it so maybe just improperly broken in rings? thanks to everyone who is willin to help
