Should I install the Yank?..... My tranny has 72K miles on it. It works great most of the time. The last few times I've ran it at the track, it hit the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift. It feels sluggish once in a while during normal driving....the shifts take their sweet old time. For the most part though, it works as it should. Would it be okay to put in the TC without a rebuild? I don't think it needs a rebuild yet....this is my daily driver. But with those small issues it has from time to time, am I going to ruin my TC? I can't wait to put that sucker in, but I want to make sure it will be okay. What do you all think?

You won't ruin your TC. I would put it in myself, but thats just me. I had similar issues with the 2-3 shift on a new tranny. When racing a car and modding it, expect things to happen. Adventually the tranny will go.

I would put it in there, I put mine in there with about the same number miles. I now have 94,000 it use to be my DD but not anymore. Just make sure to put in a nice tranny cooler

The 3,4 clutch pack is more than likely gone. If you tranny takes a crap it will pump metal through the TC and you will have to send the TC back to get rebuilt anyway. Get the tranny fixed now before you break hard parts in it and it costs even more. When you do it, if you do, get a deep pan and at least a 18000 gvw cooler. Also make sure you get the right filter for the deep pan.

this is what i done and i strongly suggest:
save up a little more money and then rebuild the tranny and install the tc at the same time.
1. buy a pro rebuild kit from jegs $215
2. buy a hardened sun shell. tci has one called the beast. $50 (give or take a little)
3. buy 10-12 qts of synthetic atf (royal purple recommended) $70 (give or take a little)
4. have it rebuilt $400 (give or take a little)
and of course, the tranny cooler is a must with an aftermarket tc $50
some people do servos during the rebuild also, not required
