Default Just In ! Patriot Ls6 heads! pics..flow #'s

Hey guys...i just got my heads in from Patriot today...i just wanted to say thanks again for the help from Gunner...best customer service i have ever had.
Now, it seems there is like a ls6 stage 1 budget head war...i just want to tell you alittle bit about what i got. These are stock valved 243 casting heads..brand new..with patriot gold dual valve springs and all the little goodies.
These are Cnc'ed and hand finished. Gunner can get into it more if he wishes. Below i am posting my flow numbers right off the sheet i got from Gunner. I am also gonna post flow numbers for PRC and Livernois stage 1 ls6 heads just for yall to see.
Low lift CFM PP owns both the others, then at .400 it breaks just about even with PRC's, then looses some on the top. How do yall expect this to affect power with the MS3 cam i will be running?

Here are my flow numbers...PP CNCed Cylinder 1 Intake CFM

.100 79.3
.200 155.7
.300 218.7
.400 256.3
.500 284.5
.600 300.0

Here are PRC's
.100" 72
.200" 149
.300" 205
.400" 255
.500" 287
.600" 307

here are Livernois
.100 66
.200 140
.300 200
.400 246
.500 285
.600 303

Look good man! I doubt there will be much peformance difference between the Livernois, PRC and PP LS6 heads- if there is it will probably not be much. I think the biggest issue of the "budget war" is price. How much did you pay for the heads with dual springs if you don't mind me asking? Was there a valve job performed?
What made you choose these over TSP's heads since you went with them for your cam? Sorry for all the questions I'm just curious!

Can't wait to see some numbers-I bet it will be a HUGE difference if you install all those mods in the pic in your other thread all at the same time.

Looks like some pretty strong #s. Do you have the exhaust flow #s as well?

Probably not going to be a whole world of difference between those three heads or the higher dollar AFR,Dart, and ET castings for that matter. You cant beat the CNCd LS6 heads for the bang for buck....

Low lift numbers are more important. Our LS6/FAST intake manifolds will restrict alot of high lift flow.

He shouldn't have to flycut since they are with stock sized valves.

Bullshit. low lift numbers can't even be looked at. There are so many variations from benches on heads flowed from .300 and under. It's just too hard to look at those numbers and base your evaluations on. I would rather have a head that flows great at .4, .5, .6, and continues flowint at .650 than a head that makes 5cfm more at .3 as the head that doesnt back up will consistently make more power and be faster down the track with the same cam. We are limited in TOTAL power production from the composite aftermarket, but the area under the curve will still benefit the higher flowing heads.

Lifts at .2/.3/.4 are more important than .5/.6 for street driven motors.
You guys put too much emphasis on flow #s and forget other factors like swirl and velocity.
you need to look at what is inside the box, not just the label on the outside.

I see the same trend regarding cams, poeple look at peak Hp numbers and hail this cam, that cam, while all along it is the power under the curve which will give you the performance wished for. This is why most overcam their motors.

We need to get off this bigger/more/louder/taller/higher, makes my motor faster attidude.

It is all about "THE RIGHT MATCHING COMBINATION"

it was just part of there process after they get CNCed.

Predator,
can you tell from the couple of pictures i have if you think this was more of a velocity type port?
I assume the better low lift numbers might should a benefit in the tq department which is something the ms3 seems to lack alittle. But this cam like so many others is a high lift/rpm screamer...how do you think it will perform compared to the others in your opinion? Or anyone elses for that matter.

no, thats why i got them...stock sized valves 2.00/1.55 and stock deck height...maybe .02 takin off them just for a nice surface texture. The cam for designed to clear stock heads.
I wont start installing untill after the 18th of this month due to a promotion test i am studying for. After that though its on I will try to let ya know when i got to XXX, it should be the end of the month. I am gonna take my time and get everything little thing exactly how i want it and do a nice easy break in period...

I just got finished hand finishing a set of 6.0 heads last week that wasnt done that indepth but then again they new I would be finishin them off. They are abunch of good guys up there and they really have the customers needs at heart on every order. I was up there the other day and Gunnar was talkin some guy out of some parts that were way off from what he needed for his application- saved the guy some money and aggrevation in the long run for sure

Difficult to tell from pics, but from the stronger mid lift flow, it is a sure indication of better velocity.
They will perform fine for your intent and will benefit you in the tuning area.
300/226 at .600 lifts is nothing to feel shy about.
I think you'll be satistfied with your increase in power, and if you ever decide to throw a 100 shot at it, better get ready for some G forces.
Make sure you get a good tune.

The heads were $1175 shipped.

I am gonna throw the 150 at it...not listed in my sig is my inline 255 fuel pump
I am looking for 6xxtq on spray. Thinking about going progressive? not sure though.
my buddy just put the ms3 in his '02 zo6...he dynoed 441/386 with stock 243 heads. 565/605 on a 150 shot with only 82x bottle pressure...his heater was takin a dump..so still more in it for sure.

Bo, are you still hand finishing heads then?

Let me clarify this cause now I'm confused...

Patriot is handfinishing all the 243 heads now? Even the intake port? Even after they've gotten out of the CNC machine? That wasn't an extra option you paid for? I was having people recommend against taking cnc lines out of the intake port...
