Default What's the cause of my Textralia clutch shudder?

I just recently had a Textralia clutch installed. I might say this is the best clutch I've had. Grabs like a sum bitch, nice effortless pedal feel.

Ok with that out of the way, my only complaint is it shudders at low RPM. In 1st gear when I'm feathering it out to a roll for daily driving or when in reverse. At higher RPM and all other gears no problem. Any ideas?

What rear gears do you have?

Numerically lower gears will result in more shudder, as it takes more slipping to get the car moving. Swap 'em out to 4.56's and that will help.

I currently have 3.73's.

4.56's and my rear end goes BOOM! lol! I guess that'll solve the shudder!

If its new, let it break in a bit, a lot of the chatter goes away with time. Just be sure your hydraulics are tip top as well, otherwise, lit will come back a bit. I'd say 4.10 or 4.11's would be a good gear to throw in there. (Thats what im lookin at for my 9in when i get it... one day. lol)

It's brand spankin new. Not even 100 miles yet. Good thing is there is no chatter, just some shudder/shaking.

I'm in the same boat, I'll get 4.11's when I get my 9", some day!

Umm pretty sure you shudder is same as chatter. And would hope it goes away in some miles most guys said it did.
I really am interested in this clutch but the pics I saw a short while ago on here scared me pretty bad.
I would like to see some tex clutches after some big hp use and see how they compare to that one to see if that was common or not.

Could it be the pressure plates not torqued down correctly?

Oh yeah you definitely gotta put some miles on it. It should go away after 300-500 miles. Its still brand new! I'm pretty sure all clutches have a little chatter until they are broken in.

Mine did the same thing. I put 300 miles on it and it's gone. The shutter that you feel is chatter which goes away with a few miles on her.

Mine's smooth as butter now.

Ok, just to clear things up for me, when I say shutter, I mean the tranny vibrates/shakes. Chatter is an audible rattling sound. I don't have an audible sound, just vibration/shaking.

Since 02BlackBullet experienced the same thing, I'm not going to worry. I will if this continues after extended use. Thanks for the help/advice!

If it has say more than 500 miles on it, and it still has a little bit of shaking/chatter when you take off, what would it be?

Also known as clutch chatter. You used loctite on the flywheel/pressure plate bolts right?

On mine it has never completely gone away, but it is almost unnoticeable now. If I start from anything above idle there isn't any chatter.

How many miles did it take to get right?

I had chatter with my SPec 3..... also with my Ram Powergrip. I listened to everyone and got 4:10's and its was still there. I just think it happens with certain cars. I just put in my Textralia clutch and started her up tonight. We shall see.

I guess I can say it's smoothing out. The chatter wasn't as bad.

Eitherway I'd like to reiterate on how great this clutch is. It feels like a stock clutch but it shifts so smooth and grabs when you need it to. It is worth the investment.

Man I HOPE so! About about done with all this clutch crap. Three clutches in as many years is bullshit. Plus I'm almost out of clutches to try.

Mine smoothed out, but after more miles it does it again. Now this is if I take off with hardly any pedal at all. So to combat this I makes sure to take off at 1k or a tad more and it is smooth as silk. I still have the factory 3.42s as well, so that's not helping anything. All in all it's worth the extra effort.
