Default Ordering from GM Parts Direct.......

Hey, UPS busted my MAP sensor in shipping so i ordered a new one from GM parts direct last Fri night so 5 days ago. Anyone, they are very weird about their shipping and very hard to contact. I need this part ASAP for my car to go and cant figure out when its going to arrive, I checked in on their status page or whatever but it gives no tracking number and says.... in progress, this gives me no info. When do you guys usually get your stuff from them or anyway i can find out when its going to get here? Thanks

A friend of mine has ordered from them before, apparently everything they have is on backorder, you can't cancel orders, and it generally takes about 6 weeks to get your stuff.

The last 2 times I've ordered parts from GMPartsDirect it has taken me ~2 months to get the parts.

I'd purchase the sensor from a local dealer or parts store... or mailorder from somebody else that you are actually able to talk to over the phone

Five or six days. This was one month ago.

Mine were anywhere from 2.5 weeks to 1.5 months. There shipping is a joke. Can't contact anyone, except for email. The first time I ordered from them it took over a month and when I looked on there website it said "we are currently moving to a new location all orders are on hold" it would have been nice to know that was going to happen b4 I ordered.

I've ordered from them on a few different occassions when it wasn't something I needed quickly, or the discounted price + outrageous shipping still was way better than the parts counter at the local dealership. All my orders have typically taken at least two weeks, and a couple were around three weeks.

Yea, ok well i looked up the part at SDPC and it would cost me more there after shipping vs the dealership so i'll jsut stop in there today and order one up and hopefully have it the next day as they had with my oil pressure sending unit. Sucks that there shipping is so bad and even worse that they wont accept phone calls AND they dont answer e-mails..... sent them 2 so far. Oh well, when it arrives it will be in the FS section as i will have no use. Thanks for the help!

My orders from them have always came in about 2-3 weeks. But I have only ordered fairly common trim pieces and emblems and stuff like that, nothing big.

As it's already been beaten - they are not a good place to order anything you are in a hurry to get.

Not going to work. This is straight from gmpartsdirect FAQs.

How do I cancel my order?

Due to the large volume of orders, we are unable to cancel orders once they have been placed. You are notified of this during order placement before entering your payment information.

You can still file a dispute with your CC company. You risk making things a little harder on yourself but if you have to buy the part NOW, then you might as well go ahead and do it. One of two things will happen - the card will bounce before shipment, so they will cancel your order, or they will still deliver it and you'll have to either be there to refuse shipment or return ship it.

Either way if you dispute the charges you should do what the CC company tells you to do. I have always had good support from my CC companies in these situations. Just be honest about the transaction and they will do the legwork for you.
