Default straight pipe

ok. so i have stock manifolds and wanted to put on true duals out the back with no mufflers. i do have cats on my car. do you guys think this would sound good or not? and do you guys have any sound clips? i heard a 96 mustang with longtubes and no cats straight pipes and it sounded good. did not sound to loud from the outside. thanks for the help.

Try www.ls1sounds.com for clips.

And I think that you might benefit more from just headers and a decent catback or true duals with them. Stock manifolds will suppress power. Unless you are staying that way for emissions reasons.

orangeapeels right you definitly need headers, it would make no sense to do that with stock manifolds, just my .02

i'm going to put on longtubes but money is a little short right now. this is an idea that is cheaper and will make it louder. i have pipes that i got for free so i just need them welded up.

If you just want it louder until you do headers, why not just weld a cutout in the i-pipe? Cheaper, less work and you can cap it when you want to be quiet.

i have a cutout but it sounds like ****. i will keep the dual exhaust setup after the headers and maybe add mufflers if its to loud. i want dual exhaust before headers.

Stock manifolds/cats/no muffler(s) no matter how it's achieved (cutout or straight pipes) is going to sound pretty much the same and one won't be louder than the other. You haven't really elaborated much on what you want to do other than you have some pipes laying around that you want to weld up. Ok, are these pipes bent to fit your car already? Do you have an H or X merge for the dual setup or are do you want no merge at all? Are you just going to try to make duals out of the stock y-pipe? Are you keeping the stock cats? I see your from CA so you've got emissions crap to think about too, unless you've got a way around it. (sux man)

IMO what you should do is wait until you can afford headers (since you said you plan on adding them anyway) and do it right all at once. If you're hell bent on having a dual setup off the stock manifolds, your best bet is to take these "pipes" you have to a competent shop and have them build a system for you. That's really the only way you're going to be happy with the results.

i want to have an x pipe then over the axel with no mufflers. the cutout does not sound good under my seat. i think it will sound better with dual exhaust. smog is not a problem. i have some connections that will take care of that. i do just have to have dual exhaust as soon as possible. don't know why. no good resson just do.
