Exclamation Extremely quick help...

I'm doing a berger panel right now but have a quick question. After I put the primer on the panel, do I need to sand it down with 1000 grit wet sand? It looks pretty good to me as it is. But, if I still need to sand it down to create a better finish, I obviously will. Also, is the 1000 grit another wet sand procedure? It doesn't say it being so in the hall of fame writeup. Just wondering because if it's wet sanding with 1000, then i'll have to wash it off again which I'm not sure is ok for the primer. Thanks for the help in advance.

I wouldnt sand the primer. Wet sand it after the paint is on. Use like 1500 or finer sand paper.

Post pics and let us know how you make out.

Alrighty. I'm painting it satin black so I don't think I'll be sanding the paint once it's done. I'll be finishing this up in the next hour or two. Then of course I'll post the pics.

I just put about 4 light coats of satin on. How does this compare to others? There's a bit of splochiness that's going on, but I'm assuming that will go away? By the way, I'm no professional painter, not sure if you could tell

sand the primer to 400-600 grit. paint prolly wont stick to 1000-1500 grit. i'd put a few light coats on followed by one or two medium coats, no heavy coats because it'll prolly drip. wet sand extremely light with 1000 then 1500 then rubbing compound.

I'm not gonna wet sand the final coat, I want it as the simple matte finish. I just wanted to know how many coats I should put on being as it looks like there are spots of smoother patches and spots of rougher/more granular looking patches (people who have painted satin hopefully know what I'm talking about).

Can anyone who painted theirs satin help me out with the number of coats they used and whether or not it was splotchy and if that smoothed out when it dried?
