Default My Chute Install

Thought I would post this here - as well as Forced Induction - since there was a trend earlier on parachute install.

Finally got off my *** and bought one of the last pieces to my 98SS build. A Stroud parachute. Bob at JJ's helped ensure that I got the correct one. It's non-spring nor CO2. The pilot chute is spring loaded - as Joey found out . I personally think it looks great. It's non-removal for a street time. Oh well.

Final prep for first time firing is almost complete. The wait is killing me First weekend of racing is this weekend. Oh well.

Here's a couple pictures of the cute

Removed rear bumper support, fab'd chute support, attached to frame

Chute release - yep it's the E-brake; haven't used it in the last couple years away

GOOD looking! Great idea with the e-brake. Wish I would have kept that thing instead of junking it

Brian, we're have a slight problem the AEM set-up. Joey was on the phone to them when I left the shop today. All of the engine, fuel, turbo, A2W IC, water system, are completed. Using same T-400, same 12-bolt (but with 373's). Finishing off the 10-point should only take a couple of hours (dash is out anyway ). Our initial date was this weekend, but that has slipped at least a week or two. We'll see.

We'll have to totally re-scale the car when it gets done. Seems like we take off pounds, and add them right back on some where else.

Here's a couple of engine-bay pictures.

Wow David
Not much of a 10 second bracket car anymore

Is she still gonna see any street time or is this a bad-*** race only car now?

Thanks everyone. A lot of time, labor and love have gone into this the SS's last build. We are going to be taking it to its limits on stock chasis set-up.

Brian, thanks for the offer - we will be taking you up on your offer when the time comes.

Derek we are building an 8 second bracket racer .

We are going to be going on some Friday/Saturday night street cruises. We've been invited to more than a few car shows with it. Don't think I'll be able to drive it to work, gas prices are a killer for 114.

We figured it would be pretty cool to going cruising in the SS with a chute, wheelie bars, slicks and skinnies - all on an 8 second car Joey for Excessive AutoSports has out done himself on this build. Not bad for a 2 stall, 3 person operation.

Sweetness! I want vid footage when driving around and the first few shake-down runs.

Hey there's a big GM show in Ocala, FL in October (hint, hint) where Chevy High Performance and Super Chevy will be in attendance that I have a small hand in. Wanna make a road trip? Super Chevy Show is the following weekend at Gainesville Raceway, then World Street Nationals at Orlando the week after that.

Thanks everyone.

Derek: We'll post the videos as soon as they are done - hopefully soon

A road trip. Sounds great, but sounds like I'm just living in the wrong part of the States. Nothing half that good ever comes even close to up here. Every part of that trips sounds great - BUT with gas prices I doubt it would be feasible. At $3+ a gallon and 8 miles/gallon, the cost would be a huge factor. Don't have a sponsor that will pay for gas. My hotel gets towed behind me

I am also kicking around the idea of trying out a set of drag radials - like 325 or 335's. I'll wear out the set on the SS right now.

I understand, this is one of the many reason I'm racing at Gainesville most of this year, whereas last year I did 5-6 away races. This year it will be 1 or 2.

Just thought you might want to bring it and try your luck against the radial cars at Orlando.

I might have room in the garage for a sleeping bag or 2

Very cool David. Looking forward to reading about track times.

Where did you get your new front nose? I need a new one also.

Good luck this season.
