Default Opinions Needed. Headers & Loudmouth

A have a Loudmouth exhaust.

From what I hear and read, about 70% of the people I've gotten opinions from say the Loudmouth doesnt sound good with a !cat and LT headers.

Is this true?
Ls1sounds.com has many files, but only a few LT1's with SLP.

I'm looking to get headers in the near future.
Either NICE Mids or Longs.

Just like the thread says, what are your opinions on this?
Anyone have sound clips?

Thank you in advance.

I have SLP LT headers and Loudmouth on my car and I love the way it sounds. It's a little raspy, but it's strong. Ground clearance is a bitch, so I'd recommend looking into Kook's or QTP. Try posting in the external mods section if you haven't already, you'd get a lot of help there.

It's raspy as hell and very loud with no cats. If you like attention, it'll do the trick.

I'd get something a little more mellow myself.

Check the sig. It's loud, but nothing EXTREME like people are saying IMO. It will definitely get you some attention though.

LM is a nice exhuast. With LTs im sure you would be pleased. I personaly love the loud ***, alarm setting, pissing neighbors off exhuast. Open LTs for 7 months and now im getting Xr1s.

If you don't drive your car everyday it's not to bad. If you do then it gets pretty rough. I had LT's ORY and a LM for about a month and I had to ditch it for a Hooker. (no pun intended) I put the Hooker on and its like a totally different car. I also put a McCord cutout in the I-pipe so now I have the best of both worlds. LOUD *** ALARM SETTING OFF, SOCCER MOM PISSING OFF EXHAUST, or cool and mellow when I want to be halfway civil. Although the Hooker will sound off at WOT.

An Lt1 will sound different to an LS1 running that setup. It'll be loud but that doesn't mean it won't sound good.

If you're concerned you have 2 easy options:

1. Get a catted Y pipe
2. Cut out the LM muffler and add a bullet muffler (Maganaflow, Borla, Dynomax)

BTW - don't get mids they are not worth it IMO, LT's are the best way as good header design is about scavenging and Mids work at rpm's higher than most people run OHV engines to.

Would you recommened a standard size muffler or a bullet that fits in place of the LM resonator? I'm trying to get rid of that rasp without loosing too much power, but I'm willing to eat a few ponies in order to get it.

I have pacesetter long tubes with a catted slp y pipe and loudmouth and it sounds awesome. The tone gets louder as you accelerate . When you let off, you cant even hear it. i drive it a good 150 miles a month. It is loud, very loud, sounds like a nascar. But its not so loud that you get sick of it. I personally think it sounds badass.

LT's ORY and a LM lasted 0.3mi on my car until I bought a mufflered catback. A little rasp? NO - TONS OF RASP - Sounded like $hit!

Yeah it sounds great everywhere but mid-range rpms...way to much rasp. Idle and WOT sounds badass and it's not too loud or anything, I just want to get rid of the rasp. What kind of muffler or bullet muffler are you running with it? SLP#686?

I've heard one with the Borla XR1 but that is a LARGE bullet. I have also heard one with 3 Dynomax bullets. One where the resonator goes (18") and then two smaller ounes on the other side of the axle - that sounded good, no rasp, but still LOUD at WOT.

I now have a Magnflow Catback and a QTP cutout

How much larger is the XR1 than the stock lm res? I was gonna go that route with headers, but with any bigger of a bullet and it will hit the driveshaft wont it?

I also had the LM with LT's no cats and hated the way it sounded. So i switched to a Flowmaster. Sounded better, but now I dont know how many horses I gave up for that...
