Default how to identify a red painted LT1 intake from an LT4 intake?

my friend has an LT4 intake that was supposedly bought from summit a long time ago. he just has it sitting there and i was wondering how i can tell the difference between his intake and say my painted LT1 intake. i saw the ports on the "LT4" intake and noticed that they look just a little smaller, or not smaller but not as squared. also noticed that one of the bolt holes on the driverside was cut across or elongated towards the valve cover side. both intakes look just about the same except for a few casting #'s on the underside of the manifold. would i be able to bolt it on with any major mods or do i need the LT4 heads as well?

The LT4 Intakes are supposed to have taller ports, appx. 2.5mm taller than the LT1's. If it was me, I would bolt a true LT4 Intake to LT4 Heads.

Why do you want to bolt it on? Not worth it. If he's giving it to you then take it and through it on ebay.

It's not different. People have been doing it for years. There is nothing super special about a LT4 intake. The money spent on a LT4 conversion could be better spent on the stock castings and a cam.

i need to pay off some bills and yes im going to put it up in ebay. just want to make sure it is a legit LT4 intake before i buy it. there are casting #'s on the underside of the inatke and i was wondering if i can identify it using those numbers? or are there any other on the outside of the manifold that will help me tell them apart from other painted intakes? i just saw a few intakes on ebay in the upper $400's and there are still a few days left in the auction.

They go for some bucks. Some people pn there list the casting numbers, check with the ones they list.

LT4 intake has a taller port..... will not fit on stock LT1 heads. Thats y they sell it as a conversion kit. But besides that the intake u buy from Summit is very crude with small ports ......thats y it is so cheap in price. it will cost u another $150 to $350 to get a good port on it....

casting numbers don't lie, they're your best bet for proper identification

do the small ports on the summit intake make any difference power wise or should they just be gasket matched? just wondering cuz they seem to be real small even compared to my LT1 intake.
