Default LT1 Aluminum drive shaft

Im pretty sure they are the same but will a stock aluminum drive shaft from an LS1 fit an LT1? Do they have the same amount of splines?

I hear of reported 1-2 hp and 10lbs tq. I really dont think that's what's gained, it's just what's free'ed up.

yes, it's less rotational mass which means that less power is lost, or more of the power that the engine makes at the flywheel is actually tranferred all the way to the rear wheels.

I'm really just looking to get rid of a bit of vibration I've had going on since I put my 3.73's in

I'm not talking about the sotp dyno dude. Ive seen a back to back dyno sheet backing what I just said. The best reason to get on imho is because it's more efficiant.

I dont think he was indicating all years used the same material. He was just saying all years are interchangeable.

Dont know how much power it frees up but Ive seen quite a few of high 11 low 12 second cars break an LS1 aluminum driveshaft.

he meant that all the years are interchangable, which they are. not all LS1 cars had aluminum either. The 2.73 rear gear option cars should have steel just like the LT1 cars. The 1LE LT1 cars i THINK came with aluminum driveshafts also, but i'm not gonna say that as fact.

edit- they also had the warranty deal if you had vibration problems with your LT1 driveshaft that they would replace it with an aluminum one.

I also heard of LS1 cars converting to a LT1 steel shaft because they were breaking the aluminum shafts...

Steel is stronger than aluminum, just heavier.
1LE LT1 cars had a 2.5" aluminum ds, while LS1 aluminum ds is 3".
Those back to back dyno numbers seem accurate.
