If someone offered you a Firehawk with 130,000 miles but looks really clean, for $8,800, would you bite? I'm going to get it checked out if I go for it, but I was just wondering if it's worth the trip to look at it (about 3 hours each way).

Thank you guys, I think I found the one if it works out.

ummm what year? is it going to be daily driven? I wouldn't go anymore thank 80k if its daily driven and look to pay around 10 grand or so for one at the least and 12 at the most...IMO that is

Sounds like a nice price if everything is in order with the car.

It's a '99 Firehawk. It will be daily driven, which is my concern. My buddy has a 150K daily driven Camaro, but it's a 3.8. Someone else I know has a 110K daily driven Z28, too. I guess it depends on the maintenance. I'm going to get it checked out, of course, if I go for it, but I was looking for some input.

If its been properly maintained there is absolutely no reason it shouldn't last another 130k (as far as the engine goes) you'll likely have to do some repairs/replacements on some of the other parts, such as window motors, clutch (if m6), and probably some other minor items, but for $8800, you can hardly go wrong.
Plus if something breaks it gives you the excuse to start modding it :D

Price might be a little high. Try to offer $7,500

I decided that a Firehawk with 130K miles on it wasn't the best idea for a daily driver, so I looked around some more and found a Camaro SS with just over 87K miles on it for $10,000. It's fully loaded (monsoon, leather, power everything, t tops) with the SLP options (minus the exhaust and ground effects). It looks to be in very good condition, minus a missing knob on the stock head unit. I checked Edmunds, and they say it's worth about that.

It's also close, so I can check it out just as soon as I start feeling well enough (flu's got me down right now).

i agree... i'd a gone and checked it out pretty hard... Firehawks are so much better looking than SS's...
take the money you save by getting the higher mileage one, and put it back.. then when you have enough, rebuild and make it one hell of a DD

I'm not sure if I want the SS or not yet. I haven't actually seen it yet. They're not going to budge on the Firehawk, though. He's standing firm on that. I just don't want to finance a car (and I'd have to) with that many miles. I'm going to talk to him some more though, probably.

If the Firehawk is from 1998-2002 and is running good and body and interior are in great shape go for it. Screw the milage. Rebuilt that bad boy with forged internals.

I wouldn't fear 130K. A friend of mine had an ls1 camaro with 190k on it, and it ran strong (13.1 1/4 time) with only a few mods (tune, longtubes, lid). Just my 2 cents.

Miles aint nothing but a number. What makes a 130k mile car worse than a 80k mile car? In a short time of DD that 80k car will be a 100k, them a 150k car, are you going to sell it because that odometer reading? The car is going to need wear and tear items replaced if they arn't already done ( brakes, clutch, window motors, headlight motors ) and such, but other than that, as long as its in good shape, theres no reason why not to go for the fire hawk..

I just say that 'cause it'll take me a while to get to the 130K miles (about 15K a year is how much I drive now) from 80K.

One main thing is how willing are banks to finance a car with 130K miles on it? I'm wanting to push it way out, and if I have money, then I can just pay them more, but I don't know how long they're willing to let me finance. I haven't called them yet 'cause I have some bad flu action, and can't really talk. Sucks much.
