Default Not what I expected

Went to Milan yesterday (5/6) for HS Nationals (no I'm not in HS but I got in). I didn't expect to run anything spectacular but these times seem awful to me. My best run was a 13.1 at 109 with a 2.3 60' feathering it off idle because they didn't prep the track AT ALL THE ENTIRE DAY! I was dissappointed to say the least but still managed to make it to the third round before elimination which was surprising as I was inconsistant all day. My run varied from 13.8 - 13.1 with the very first being 14.99 and the only one I stalled the car up on and didn't get traction until I let off comming out of second. What do you guys think? I know I need much more track time but is it all me?

Default milan

From past experiences I nor my brothers evo, before all the mods, have ran that well at that track. When we went they had way too much tire tack down and it was like driving on velcro. Not too sure why your times weren't consistant, I was running 13.3s all day with less mod in the sig. could be due to the over use of tire tack. It might just be the lack of tire tack, I was running at lapeer, they didnt prep that well either, and couldnt get a good launch without putting it sideways in first.
Try running at lapeer when you have a chance and see what you can run there, its an old school track nothing like milan but it might help to haven a comparison. Let me know when you are thinking of going again, I am from Clarkston, as well as SmikeEvo (brother).

That doesn't add up at all. Well most of it is in your 60'ft but your car should be traping at least 114 to 118. With traction you car at best is only 12.3 to 12.5 with that trap speed. My brother ran his car stock at lapeer stock down to the paper filter with 100k on the clock and did 13.6 at 104 to 105 all day. Did you ever get a baseline 1/4 mile?

Well they didn't put any tire tack down at all like I said so it was no better than the street IMO. I never got to launch on any of my runs and had to let off each time because I was spinning so bady. I ran my Nittos on 20psi and did a good burnout before each pass avoiding the water beforehand. One of the other LS1s there also couldn't break out of the 13s, I never talked to him but he wasn't stock for sure.

Wow, what gives with your car? With the heads/Cam/Headers I would expect it to put out more power. I think you need some MT DR's. Your car has the power, it just isn't hooking at that track. Some good DR's will cure some of the traction woes that you are having.

Well Seans dyno reads pretty low and the other H/C cars that dyno'd around the same time put down very similar numbers but I know the power is there. We did some 1/4 mile simulation runs on the dyno with street tires it ran a 12.6 at 115 spinning pretty bad so I know its there, just wondering if there might be anything in particular. Though these Nittos would hook better than the stret tires I had but so far I'm not impressed.

From what i hear you just have to heat them up really good the track prep prolly had alot to do with it as well. I would say go to a track with a bunch of buddys rent it for a few hours, and make sure that it is preped really good and see what times you lay down. So like you said also you didn't brake stall it also so that can also cut you time down your biggest problem rate now is traction. What kind of suspension work do you have done any lca's, sfc, also are they 315 nittos?

I currently have no suspension mods but have some SFCs just need them welded up and plan on doing everything except for the torque arm this summer to aid with traction, just don't wanna blow the 10 bolt before I have the cash for a 12 bolt. The tires are 245 Nittos on the stock 16s and are decently worn.

I had nittos before on my former 2KZ28. They sucked, and honestly didn't really feel worth it. You have to do over a 5 sec. burnout to get them to heat up good. If you slap on some BFG DR's you'll see a major difference. The MT DR's are better, but can lead to a broken rearend.

Yeah I think I'm gonna go with the BFs soon because I daily drive the car but still want a tire that'll last and hook when at the track.

you have all this..LPE GT2-3, ETP 4.8-5.3 Heads, Trend 7.3 pushrods, Comp Cams lifters, FAST 90/90 setup, Pacesetter Headers W/ORY, Lid..and you only trapped 109? what's the da and elevation?

i trapped 109 with headers, an ls6 intake, and a lid..on the stock tune with a 4k stall and 373 gears...something isn't right. i would expect 115-116 out of that setup, as that is a very mild head/cam combo.

yeah, milan sucks for track prep when its not a "big" event. But i would think youd be able to still run OK. I went to a high school track rental day and still made a 12.6x@107 pass with a 1.87 60' and no track prep, with the mods in my sig, but i run the 255/16 M/T radials. Maybe you could lower the press. in the nittos a little and go on a wednesday or friday, the track would be better then.

Yeah I plan on going again sometime soon for a comparison and if I don't get at least mid 12s I'll be returning to my tuner.
