SS owners w/ Manta & Deck stripes inside…PLEASE!
Okay guys… I'm getting ready to have Manta and Deck stripes painted on my SS (big comittment) so, I was hoping some of you that have these stripes (painted or decal) would be willing to take some measurements and send me the info. I've got photo reference of the stripes for the painter (but feel free to post good pics if you have 'em) but, if one of you can give me detailed measurements that would rock. Especially regarding the deck stripe, like the actual width of the stripe, distance from the side of the stripe to the side of the hatch/spoiler, distance from the bottom of the stripe to the bottom edge of the hatch, etc. The Manta stripe at least has body lines for guides but the deck stripe is just kinda there. So, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the light bar in your spoiler to accurately center the stripe. I'm going to be painting mine very soon as well. I plan on making the deck stripe the same width as the manta stripe where it ends in front of the windshield. I'm not running mine onto the hatch though, just the spoiler.

My old car:
And others:
Basically, just tell the painter not to go too low onto the flat surfaces of the hood when painting the manta. If he does, the scoop looks too wide and goofy. Where the scoop contours down at the sweeping angle, he should make the transition from the NBM to the scoop color right in the middle.
What color are you going with?

Scotty, I'm going with a gloss Black to match the roof hoop and my SS grille but, mine will be a little different than others. I'm having a pinstriper lay down a Silver border (painted, not vinyl) around the Black. Basically, I'm playing off the SS emblems on my car. I just love the way the Black w/ Silver looks against the NBM. If it looks half as good as it does in my head, it'll be awesome.

Well… I just dropped my SS off at the paint shop. This time next week I'll be sportin' my new stripes. I just hope everyhting goes smoothly. I always have this fear of disaster whenever I commit to something big like this. But, I trust my boy Danny at Beaty Chevrolet. I've never been disappointed yet. And, when it's all said and done, I think I'll take a road trip to Hot-Lanta for the F-Body Gathering and show my girl off.

Dude, i want pics ASAP! Ive been looking for something to kinda set the car off and since i have the same car as you, id like to see some pics. Im thinkin that that is going to look BADA$$ on your car, espically with the silver accents matching up with the emblems. Whats the cost of something like that?

Well… it seems the paint shop is behind schedule. I think they're just starting on my car today. I'm gonna go by there on my lunch break today and see what progress they're making.
