Default Purchasing 2 rear tires..need your help!

im going to be purchasing 2 new rear tires and i need your help/suggestions to make my final decision. this car is a daily driven car and will see little track time this summer. its drying up out in the North West now so i dont really need to worry about rain until sept/october-ish. i will be staying stock size 275/40 17s. Now my two finalists are
- 275/40/17 BFG-force T/A KD -or-
- 275/40/17 Nitto 555R drag radials.
now my question is on Discount Tire the speed rating is "275/40R-17 93 B" R (rated to 106 mph) now i dont usually push the limits but if i do get in a race on the freeway chances are i might hit over 110...and i want a tire that can safely do that..i will be ordering a pair tonight so please help with my decision! suggestions and comments as well as your personal experiences would be appreciated!!! thanks
traction is LIMITED in 1st through 2nd gears.
my mods: Long tubes, catted y , hooker catback, U/D pulley, M6 3.42s stock 10 bolt. later on this summer a cam will be going in

I'm having a problem deciding which rubber to buy also,,, from what it looks like to me,,,, the nitto drags,, the 315's,,, don't seem to live up to the 315 size,,,, to me they seem very small,,, meaning not that wide.... the sumitomos 315's look okay to me.... especially for 100 bucks a piece...... and only 85 a piece for 275's....

i thought you needed spacers or some kind of modification to fit 315s on the stock 17s? not sure though. could be wrong...

i went ahead and ordered 275/40/zr 17 Nitto RIIs...since they have the same rubber compound as the drag radial, and a harder sidewall for handling.

That harder sidewall isn't going to do much good at the strip.

Oh yeah...if you plan on leaving those tires on the car, don't expect them to last very long. I put 1700 miles and 6 trips down the track(very mild burns) on my Nitto 555r 315 drags, and have less than half of the tires left.

go with a 295 Nitto DR, it will be as wide as a 275 BFG DR.

i say go with nittos because they will last longer, but still give you decent traction, if you want your tires only to last a summer then get the BFGs.. becuase thats probably about as long as they will last. if you have the $$ and can buy tires fairly frequently get the BFGs, much stickier, but if you are normal and cant afford new tires every 3-5 months get Nittos

If your car will see NO RAIN get the KD's. I was with a buddy in his fbody with KD's when a quick storm popped up and I tell you it was like driving on ice. His back end was all over the place even though he was driving very carefully. My car never sees rain but that incident scared me enough that when I just bought tires I went with the KDW2 tires. If your car sees any rain I'd seriously reconsider the KD's.

I can't speak on the Nitto's, never been in a car with them.

That is not an option seeing as how Nitto does not make the 555R's in a 295 17" version. Anyways, Discount Tire Direct has the wrong info posted on their website. The 275/40/17 555R's have a V speed rating (149 mph) which is plenty.

I think Cop Car's numbers are WAY off....The don't think the BFG's will only last 3-5 months unless you smoke your tires at every corner and put 60k a year on your car.

The 555 R2s are Z rated. I had this setup for a while, 275/40 17 Nittos R2s on the front, R DRs on the back.
