Default Power steering delete drivablity

I have a 94 LT1 car. I just got done with installing a low alternater setup, and got rid of the power steering. I didnt loop the lines just left them open. Is there any thing that can be done to make it easyer to drive with 275 size tires up front? Will looping the lines make it any better? The car was border line imposible to drive with the larger tires.

I do have skinnys, and im sure that they will help the problem, but im just looking for some tricks to help out with the larger tires.

The only thing that will really help is to get a manual rack. It makes a world of difference.

A manual rack will not work with larger 17in rims. The manual will only work with skinnys.

Manual rack drives a lot easier than a looped ps rack.

not much to help ya...looping the lines is the way I got mine and it is not easy to turn.
I would think open like you have them is the easiest without going to manual set up.

I can look when I get home...I run a 4 rib vs 6 rib, only one that could be found short enough. This is less weight and less rotational mass on the crank

I think I just about killed myself and Paul @ Thunder when attempting to test drive my car with a manual rack and 17" (275/40) tires. There would be just no way my Grover arms could handle it.

I've known guys try 16" wheels (245 or 255 tires). They ended up taking the racks off. PITA.

Skinnies drive with no problem at all. Just don't try to corner or panic stop with them.

It takes about 1wk to learn how to "start turning before the turn"......just get the car rolling a bit before you start turning the wheel. I have been running with the short belt for a couple of years with the 275/40 17's up front.

I almost put my car in a ditch when I did the short belt mod. I flip flop the belt on and off for the track. 2 min switch

Gates Micro V 6 rib 36.5 inch.
Thats off the top of my head but I think thats right.

FYI I have rebuilt the front suspension in my 94 and keeping the ball joints and tie rod ends lubed up helps with the manual steering.
If I remember correctly the stock ones don,t have grease fittings so you would have to install new ball joints.........just something to think about for the future if your going to keep the manual steering. I have gotten used to it so I am keeping it.

I run a More performance bracket, so that may be the difference.

By the way IBWSjerry, it doesn,t look like your belt is going to line up.....you will probabley throw the belt if you run it like that.
Most of the PITA of my install was spacing it correctly so the belt was lined up right.
