Hey guys, i just got a JL audio sub (12w3-d2)

Im looking for an amp that is at most $130.. i know this is kinda cheap, but i may be able to get a deal on ebay :)

Next, is finding a place to put the sub and amp... anyone got any ideas? I want to make the system hidden with my hatch closed.

What is my best option? I dont have T-tops, but i would like space back there incase i need to put something in my car (although i do have the backseats)

Thanks, and i hope you guys can help me out!

As far as purchasing, ebay has the best deals, I personally like Kicker, you can buy referbished amps for a little of nothing and they come with a factory kicker warranty. I see you don't want to spend more then $130, but I just bought a brand new 06 model Kicker ZX350.2 amp off of ebay for $158 + shipping.

thanks, im only planning on running this one sub with the amp and thats it.

im really not good with car audio, but would your amp be a little overkill for it? I mainly want an average amp for my sub (meaning, one that isnt too crappy, but not the absolute best)

Thanks :)

usually people will buy a stealthbox for their sub an install it on the left side of the trunk, in that open little cavity - fits perfect. as far as the amp goes - i guess u culd buy a t-top amp rack and install that in the back, to hold ur amp, giving u extra room to run another amp in the future, if thats the case. thats wut most people are doin nowadays. i been wondering if we culd simply remove our monsoon amp and simply bolt down another amp in its place - that way its outta view. guess ill have to look at the current amp location and size an compare it to the amp i plan on getting.

also, people have put their amps on the underside of the flap the covers the trunk space (not sure if non-t-top cars have it), so when they lift the flap back, the amp's noticeable, but when they close it, everything looks stock.

hope that helps a little bit..

thanks, that is a good place for the amp (on the flap) but i have a 12" sub, and from what im seeing, you cna only fit a 10" sub in that little corner.

The only way i can put the sub there is if i dont put a box with it.. and i dont think it would sound good?

Overkill no, my amp wired at 4 ohm mono puts out 350 watts. There are several mono sub amps that Kicker makes, which are also sold on ebay. Some of the referbished amps on ebay were selling for around $60 to $80, if you were considering them.

i'd say trade that 12 for a 10 and get the stealth box, other wise with 1 12, in a huge well box, that could look gay.

nothing, just quick research at subthump showed 8 and 10's. didn't know they madem for 12. i'd say do the stealth either way.

i was looking at that too. i think that would be a superb place for amp mounting. being the amp isn't too huge.

lol they stopped making them but i wouldnt get a subthump one anyway for a JL. JL subs are known to like big boxes and therefor i would have a custom fiberglass box built in the driversside well. that is BY FAR the best solution.

how exactly would i make it (or where exactly would i put it)?? you mean where those MTX box's go??

What if I just put a board across where my t-tops are stores and stick the sub down there? Would that have a box-like effect?
