Default Insurance on a vette

I found a Corvette I really want to buy but my current insurance company wont cover me on it. It is a 1998 6 speed With targa top. I am 24 and will be 25 in september and they told me they cant cover anyone under the age of 30 on a corvette. Why is this? My 99 Z28 has pretty much the same engine. There isnt really that much a performance difrence. I know there has to be some people around my age with corvettes on this website some where. What can I do?

Kind of odd they won't cover you considering most people see higher rates with the Camaro. Insurance companies revise their policies, what seems to me almost every 6 months, to cover their assets.

It's as simple as: if they won't cover you, move to another carrier.

Going from my 2002 Z28 to my 2006 Corvette saved me nearly $200/yr on the insurance, equal level of coverages.

My 02 Z06 is cheaper than my 03 honda civic on insurance. I do have the z06 listed as pleasure and also have other cars on the policy.

My 2001 Z06 runs about 1000/yr rated as a pleasure vehicle full coverage. 21st century and Geico can beat everyone else's rates by a long shot in Texas.

I have Geico, and got quoted on a 2004 Z06 at $187/month Full Coverage. I am 22. That pretty much was the major deciding factor of getting one.

When my little brother (at the time he was turning 16) was going to buy a Mustang GT a friend said to check with insurance first because they dont cover anyone under 18 for it, sure enough they didnt. He asked about a Mercedes Benz SL500 though and yeah... they said they'd insure it.

same here, moving from 01 z28 to 03 z06, saved about $180 on the insurance.

the insurance company refusing to cover a vette when you already have a policy is a pure BS. they might be about to drop you either way. sounds like it's time to switch companies.

200 something a month with GAP. I'm 27......and have a pretty stout speeding record....including a trip to the local prison. It's like 210 a month but, only cause i'm friends with a insurance manager..... I got another quote from ANOTHER friend, for the same type of plan....and it was another 80 something bucks.

Moral of the story,....find a friend thats a manager, or something high in an insurance office.

I have Geico. When I turned 25 my insurance droped almost in half on the vette. Went from $950 every 6 months to $525 every 6 months. I've been with Geico now for 10 years..
