You can look at the Nitto 555RII - the 555R is the drag radial, the 555RII has the same rubber compound, but stiffer sidewalls. DOT approved? No idear...

I mean the drag radial will still corner fine, not as good as a kdw but it makes up for it in its tread patch

BF Goodrich used to make the Comp TA Drag Radial...not sure if it's still available or not. thats my suggestion. the tread depth is only about 2 32nd's i think, but if you're only driving the car 5K every year, the Drag Radials would be nice.

Another vote for the 555RII. Same compound (and tread pattern) as the drag radial but stiffer sidewalls. I had actually considered those a while back before I had ever bought my Nitto DR's. Heard guys actually cut 1.7x 60ft times with them (in A4's).

Dot approved too. I've had 4 sets now, great all around tire. Great at autox especially, really stick.

the KDW is better than the nittor DR? i have the DRs in back and the KDW in front. i was thinking of putting the 555RII in front because i think the KDWs dont grip enough?

the nitto will hook better than the KDW in the corner and drag strip. The KDW is an AWSOME true street radial tire but the Nitto is ment for what it says...either the 55R for drags or the 55RII for auto x and drags(to a point). If ur wanting to run lower pressure at the drags then the 55RII won't help much cuz of the stiff sidewall. Now, are u looking for a tire to auto x and drag race, or one or the other? Are u DDing this car? We need more info before we make the choice for u.

wut type of life have u gotten out of them with wut kind of driving? i have heard of people getting between 12-16k on daily stop/go and highway driving on the Nitto 555R, since the 555RII has the same compound, r people seeing the same treadlife?

Yes, about 12-15K, I daily drive on them too.

I highly recommend you take them off during the winter and store them in the basement in plastic bags. If you don't, they are not nearly as soft and sticky in the spring.
