I have cnc ported by More performance lt1 heads and about a .600 lift cam. I would like to here some though on how to reach my goal. Just ask what I already have if u need to. The car runs hard but I'm needing alittle more if u know what I mean.

I would go 396 or 408, then get the AFR raised runner LT4 heads from advanced induction (~330 cfm) with a huge custom cam, 1 7/8 headers, other supporting boltons, etc.

300cfm heads, the right cam, a well built bottom end and a single plane would get it done.

383, AI heads, Stock ported intake & a solid roller should get you over 500.

To the inquirer, yes it can be done, not an easy or cheap build.

There is a guy from Indiana on camaroz28 and he was in GMHTM and it is claiming to make 550 to the flywheel. He has home poerted LT1 heads and LT1 intake although I suspect it is LT4 intake and AFR headed. But anyway it is N/A and when I talked to him he says he is right at 500 to the wheels. Custom hydralic cam, it is really nothing to far out there for a 396. Now this is all from a magazine and I give GMHTM all the credit for being a great magazine, but I have a hard time believing everything I read. If he has a 398 cu.in. LT1 I am wondering the crank size because don't most 383's and 396's go with 3.75 stroke ? I think Big Rick's old motor was a 398 I believe. Hell I am in the dark !!! But what else is new.

3.75 crank is used in a 383
3.875 crank is used in a 396

a 398 is a 396 with a little larger bore.

I want to keep my lt1 style intake and my bottom end is very strong. I'm just going to try AFR 227's ported and a bigger cam and a monoblade. I hope this will get me there but nobody seem's to want to help! Same crank just bigger bore.

It can and has been done with GM castings for the intake and heads BUT, YOU have to do everything right and I am not sure it is something you wouls want to regularly drive on the street.

Nobody wants to help because you can't get there from here... you either have to do lots of work to the intake or ditch it.

yea man a single plane intake will get you closer, like a super vic is what most people use and a 90mm TB.
But if you dont wanna go that route.
Afr 227's
solid roller
maybe a carbon fiber drive shaft
