I've read posts about beware of the wires getting burned cause they run back into the exhaust from the cutout to go inside the care using the grommet under the rear seat. Now on QTP's site I noticed some pics of installs that had short turndowns mounted to the QTEC. Questions - will a short turndown effectively protect the wiring and will it do anything towards sound?

That might work. I've seen zip ties used to keep it away from the exhaust.
