Default Fiberglass SS hood Which one?

I'm really looking into getting down to 3200lbs......
And the front of the car needs to loose weight.

WHich fiberglass SS hood do you guys recommend as the lightest and best quality?
How much weight do you end up saving ??
Same thing goes for the battery, which one and how much do weight do you end up saving?

Any comments help.
Thanx

I have an oddesey pc680 battery,

It weighs 15 pounds shipped. I'm not sure what a stock battery weighs but its a whole hell of a lot more than 15lbs.

If you're serious about weight savings, I say go with the VFN Fiberglass pin-on hood, and delete your latch, hinges, and other miscellaneous crap.

I plan on going with the pin-on Z28 hood before long. 12 lbs according to the website.

WTF? I have seen seveal compaines that make one and I haven't even gone searching.

I used to have an rksport replica (my car came with it). I regret selling it. It was VERY light for a bolt-on hinged hood, and fit the contours of a camaro 10x better than my current harwood. I sold the RK for an authentic SS hood, couldn't get over how heavy it was....now I have the crap fit harwood.

I had the Glasstek pin on SS hood. Great quality and it was pretty cheap. I think it weighed about 10-12lbs.

I thought VFN only had the 3in SS hood? I didn't know they made a 4in? Anyways, I personally like the pin on 4in cowl hoods or the 3in SS hoods from VFN.

It was real light.

My harwood is definitly heavier. I don't think you will see toooo much of a difference from company to company. It is just a matter of hinged, or pin-on.

Just so you have something to compare. A factory SS hood weighs about 53 lbs.

There was a good post made by11SECSS about cutting up a factory hood. https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-racing-tech/494959-cutting-ss-hood.html

You can see my post where I weighed the underhood structure and the outer skin. I was going by memory for the 53lbs but I was off a little. The hood weight came in at 51.5 lbs.
