Tools & Fabrication - anyone use/seen the GM flywheel holding tool??

i'm talking about the one that uses the 2 starter bolt holes and grabs the f/w tooth, i've got the one for clutch/flywheel removal :chug:

Yup, saw one used the other day on my buddies car. Beats holding the crank bolt by hand :)

You can try some of the major tool trucks, Snap on Mac and Matco. Because GM will not sell to you if you do not work for a dealer. At least a couple of years ago they would not. You can also try to call a GM dealer and ask the Service Manager if you can borrow it and offer to leave a deposit for the full amount the tool costs. This should get you somewhere.

I have used these before when I worked at the dealer. They work great when you don't have an extra hand.

badazz, did you machine the tooth also?

YES. It's very easy. I used a 3/4" End Mill to machine all but the tooth (angle). That I used a 60 degree chamfer mill.
The bracket was just sawed out of angle iron and slotted. Nothing on it's precise. I sent you a PM telling you more about it.

i have worked in gm dealerships for over 15 years.i bought my own ls1 service kit,t56 kit,and time sert kits among other things and i belive kent moore will sell to anyone.ill go out to the garage and get thier 800 number and post it if you want to check.i'm not totally sure but i called and ordered and they didnt ask anything about who i worked for.some stuff is way over priced but whats new.

i have worked in gm dealerships for about 15 years.i believe kent moore sells to anyone.i purchased all the lsx engine tools,time serts,t56 tools,and rear diff kits because finding this stuff at the shop is a waste of time.they have a 800 number.i'll go out to my garage and get it if your interested.
