Car will not start....no power... loud clicking noise
The car will not start or turnover....Makes sounds when the key is in and gauges go up and then come back down. About 2 seconds after you try to turn the key it starts making a semi loud clicking noise(sounds like its coming from the passenger side of firewall.
Any ideas?
I replaced the alternator yesterday. Drove it to and from work and it worked fine. Got home and now its doing this.

First thing I'd check is the battery connections/voltage - sounds like classic dead battery or low voltage. Was the volt gauge showing it charging yesterday?

attempted to jump it today...would make ticking noise the entire time whether the key is in the ignition or not. Then when you would try to start it it would stop making the noise and would not even attempt to turn over....no repsonse from the gauges at all. checked the battey with a voltmeter before i jumped it and it was at 13 volts.
is there a way to disable the stock alarm system?

the solenoid IS still on the starter. the turn on lead for the solenoid has a relay for itself in the underhood fuse block. the ignition key powers the relay, which when energized, applies 12V to the turn-on lead for the solenoid, which engages the bendix and starter motor.

try turning your headlights on if they're dim, you've probably got a bad connection at the battery or a bad cable. If I were you, I'd clean off all the connections, at the battery, the starter, the junction box on the inner fender, etc. before I did anything. these people are giving you sound advice

AHA, That's how you clean the cable!

So far I have replaces the cable TO the starter, the starter, IGN and STARTER relays and all relevant fuses, and the battery... dude WTF. I'm about to try replacing the ground to block and the battery to fuse block cable, and if that doesn't solve the problem I'm ******* giving up and taking it somewhere to get a diagnosis.
If you figure anything out dude, let me know, my car has been down for a month.
