Default '97 LT1 Formula Coolant Temp and Thermostats

I was wondering if anyone else running an LT1 (all stock) could tell me what sort of normal running temp they're used to seeing. Mine consistantly runs at around 230. Just seems a little high to me and don't really know ayone to compare it too.
Also, I've heard there's advantages from replacing the stock (180?) thermostat with a lower (160?) version. Anyone that can speak to this?
Thanks for your help!

CONSISTANT AT 230?? Thats wayyyyyy to high. Driving you should not be over 210. Sitting in traffic it will go up to 210-220, then the fans kick on and it'll coold down. I suggest bleeding your cooling system with the bleeding screw on top of the thermostat housing, OR replacing your thermostat with a 160, It's only 5-10 bucks at a murrays and you do it yourself! Easy to do! Gotta have the tools!

Any downsides to switching to a 160?

Heck no, it may take a little longer to blow hot air out your vents but your car runs cooler and performs better!
