Default 99 Z28 exhaust ?

I have a 99 Z28. I just installed my flowtech 3" cut-out and while my local muffler shop was installing it, I noticed that on the drivers side that the pipe after the cat is like .75 inches thin and flat, not like the passenger side one. My car sounds real good with my cut-out but not as good as my friend's 95 trans am with his. He also has a M6, but his pipe is 2.5 inches like the one on the passengers side. Also my friend gained .4 second in a 8th. It seems like a only gained some top-end out of it.

This was GM's version of a Y pipe , i couldnt figure it out either. I pulled my whole exhaust system and replaced it.You will find alot of people talk about the restrictions on the way into the engine. There are just as many on the way out...

there are some y pipes and some off road pipes that are made to replace it..Just think it through, there are alot of options out there depending on $ and what you really want, i replaced everhting from the headers back, and was very happy with the results.

I can only speak for myself, i had shorty headers and flowmaster muffler wasnt happy with that set up, but had a decent sound. I replaced the shorties with long tube MAC headers,(pain in the butt by the way) , then used a off road pipe to a Mufflex cat back 4"exhaust i had to use O2 sims since i didnt use my cat's, my state doesnt have emisions , so i was able to get away with that.Pretty much thats the extreme when it comes to exhaust. If i would have done that from the begining i wouldnt have wasted my money on the other set of headers or the muffler. I also has the cutout, needless to say i dont need a cut out anymore

Yes I know, IT REALLY DOES. Does the lt1 have bigger cams? Also does the M6 make any difference in the sound?
