Yes you will have to remove the egr. If you can do it your self get your self some 1/8" strap steel and usr the egr tube as your pattern.

ya you can get the SLP LS6 Intake Manifold w/ EGR or you can get one w/o EGR and tune it out and use block off plates for your mainfolds. or if you get a LS6 w/ EGR protrusion you and don't want to use EGR you can block that hole off w/ a 1-3/8" freeze plug (adjustable/universal kind)

So do you think the freeze plug would work the best?

so you already bought the intake? w/ EGR? ...and now you don't want to have your EGR system? yes that adjustable 1-3/8 freeze plug will do it and you can pick it up at any local autoparts store for less than $5

the adujustable freeze plug works fine and is only like 2 or 3 bucks at autozone. Its not the prettiest but it works.

NO. They are talking about plugging the EGR hole in a LS1 intake with the rubber expandable freeze plug. Even if you were wanting to plug the SLP LS6 intake with EGR, the freeze plug would not work on it. You need to fabricate or buy a steel or aluminum plate that will cover the hole in the exhaust manifold. If you can't figure out how to make one using the tube as a template like conan suggested, LS1speed sells them.

freeze plug is fine, do not waste your cash on the slp piece, get a standard ls6 on block of your headers and you'll be fine, I ran the freeze plug for about 2 months, and it was a great cheap fix, it does not look the best, but it is a good solution.

LS1speed.com sells the blockoff plates.

Enter your car, click exhaust, and scroll to the bottom. I made the blockoff plates for my car out of some 16 guage stainless I jacked from work. I have a 2'x3' plate, it polishes up nice too.

All this 1 3/8" adjustable freezeplug stuff is for blocking off the MANIFOLD, not the exhaust. If you buy an LS6 that doesn't have EGR provisions, ignore these jackasses.

Even the slp version with the ls6 was a bitch to plug. I finally found a brass screw type cap at Lowes that fit perfect.
