K&N GEN 2 FIPK is junk man , skip the hassle, and go with a lid, cutout the bottom of your lid's base, and install some form of a super sucker to get the cold underside air in there.

yea, thast what i figiured. looked like it would suck up to much hot air. i wonder though, would a FTRA or SLP CAI even work w/ a WS6's ram air? or would it void the ram air efect of the hoodscoops?

One thing the FIPK does not do is draw heat directly up from the radiator. The metal mounting plate completely blocks off the top of the radiator thus preventing heat from being drawn in directly.

Back in March, we dynoed my car a couple of ways, switching between the lid and the FIPK, and tried it with both the hood up and down. The results were the same with the hood up, but the FIPK showed nearly a 30 HP loss with the hood down over the lid (the lid actually went up slightly). Sucking hot air.
Now it is likely that once the car is moving, the FIPK will not suck hot air, but from a start, it is going to cost you. The dyno is below . . .

I'll throw in a vote for the Volant if you have an SS, I experienced no real seat of the pants gain over the lid. I figure it picked up an extra 5 hp or so, because I went from a cutout to GMMG at the same time, and the car still ran dead even with my buddies SS as it did before, so it made up for the hp loss on my exhaust. The bonus is it looks damn sweet and I have no hydrolock worries anymore. I am sure I will pick up more power when i hog out the air openings on the SS hood and get more flow in there.

i also saw this 'stealth' lower box and lid set-up. the whole thing is supposed to be a bigger filter ('vette stlye) w/ a bigger opening at the bottom of the lower box base. wonder if this would help a WS6 car along w/ that BG ram air mod(very cool)...

I have the K&N kit and I like it I cut a hole out of the metal plate and put the slp ram air plate in but even with just the kit I felt a huge differance in hp and torque. I am still going to put the ultra z hood on to get more of a ram air effect.

I was about to make a post with this same question about what intake set up is the best. I also have the WS6 and the BG ram air set up looks interesting.
Anyone here have pics of it installed or any dyno information on it? I'm gonna need lots of air with my new set up. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
