Default WS6 or just trans am

I am looking at a 1999 Trans am that has the ram air hood and aftermarket rims (dont know where the originals are). Can you guys tell me from the serial number if it is a ws6 or just a trans am. And can you tell me what gear ratio is in the car A4. Can you just buy a trans am with the ram air and no ws6 package? Any help would be appreciated. Here is the serial

To see if it's a genuine WS6, look on the drivers door for the RPO code WS6, if you don't have that code it's not a WS6
If it's an A4 WS6 it'll have 3.23 gears, if it's a T/A it can have either 2.73, or 3.23
No it wasn't possible to buy just the Ram Air without getting the WS6 package (tho it's possible to order the hood and the air box and install them after you buy the car)

I'm not sure how true this goes, but if you look on a real WS6 hood, there is a trim line around the inlets like seen in the sig above^^. All the aftermarket WS6 hoods I have found online do not have that trim line. Once again, I don't know if this holds up, but if you cannot find the RPO code, that might help in distinguising an aftermarket hood.

Don't go off the "trim line" my WS9 hood has that. As stated above you need to look at the RPO codes.

If it is a stock ta/ws6, other than the hood, and the aftermarket wheels. Look for the badgings, and if there is stock oval tips, that is a ta.

Nope, I dunno what your looking at, but my VFN hood has what you speak of.

Like I said, I didn't know if it was completely legitimate. I had not seen the WS9 hood or the VFN hood. My mistake.
