Default 3400 + 2.3 STR + 3.73 = Close to stock feel?

I've done a lot of research on here, about to buy a Yank SS3400 with 2.3 STR - I want to be reassurred one more time this is the right choice. My priorities:
  • Reliability/Efficiency
  • Tight on the street (I have 3.73's)
  • Launchable at track on Nitto DR's
  • .3-.4 ET
There will be no cam for this car or any future power adders. Is this the right converter with the right specs for my priorities?

That looks like bald tires to me. should be pretty tight but ur launching is gonna take some practice and something better than those nittos.

Wow and with the 2.3 str, traction will be more of a challenge. Upgrade to M/T drags, then see what happens.

1.87 on ur stock converter is very impressive, best i can cut is a 2.2 with DR's. Id go with either a stickier tire or something like 2.1 STR maybe even a 2.0. But damn good times for u car man.

My times were with lid, catback, stall and nittos.

I just had the longtubes, ory and cam put in recently, which is why I put OLD in front of best

I was also there the day when your father almost hit the wall with the vette. I hit 12.7 on my second run for the first time after that horrendous slippery track first run.

Hooking with Nittos all depends on the track prep, track temp, psi and how good of a burnout you did. My converter has a 2.5 STR and with a good burnout I dead hook on 245 Nittos for very low 1.7 60' times.

I run 18-20 psi, do a good burnout (7 seconds after I start seeing smoke) and I stage as quick as I can. Now I don't have 3.73's yet but if the track prep is good I bet I can still pull 1.7's.

As for streetable you should be fine. I think my converter is streetable with 3.23's so it would have to feel even tighter with your gears. Get the stall, get the higher STR (you'll want it at the track) and if you can't hook then get some MT street radials to replace the Nittos.

Good Luck.

Agreed, I don't know how the nittos will like the 3.73s, I can only speak for how they like my 2.73s. I can get them to dead hook as well with a 3500rpm launch. They even hooked with a 4000 launch but the trans said no

I was practically standing on the brakes holding the car and yes it did go to 4000. Launched very hard but the trans slipped into 2nd so no more of that. 3500 is as high as I'll go for now.

Never a neutral drop, talk about killing a trans!!
