Totally blew my mind, older gentleman i know brought his car over for my to listen to a noise comin from under the hood, car was bought brand new with 45 miles on it in 2002, car has 13,012 on it now......never has had anything done except oil changes. Looked around the compartment and see a 243 on the passenger head...... I have never seen an F-body come from GM with LS6 heads.....has anyone else

I could be mistaken (and probably am), but I believe my 2000 SS has 243 castings on it.

And I think it's bone stock...

I'm in the middle of a H/C swap and have been under the hood all this week. I might have to double check that...hmmm

Either way I just bought a set of TSP's CNC'ed LS6 heads to go on it...

I'll have to look into this...

So are all 243 castings LS6 heads? Or did GM change it over the course of 98-02?

2000.5 - 2002 got #241 heads. This is a report of a #243 cast head which is an ls6 head.

Ahh...maybe I looked wrong...could be...it's been late nights here lately trying to get this thing done...

I was under the impression that the Fbodys NEVER got the LS6 heads, that they were strictly for the ZO6.
Are you sure those are LS6 heads, with sodium filled valves?

There is only one kind of 243 casting either way. Might explain why some cam only cars do so well .

But still, didn't they assemble the LS6 motors in a completely different plant/area than the LS1's, with the LS6 heads not even being delivered to the factory that built the regular LS1?

This is news to me

If it has the 243 heads...then it has the sodium vavles and different length pushrods too? Interesting.
