will a heavy duty clutch and pressure plates wear out the stock transmission on a 95 firebird? my mechanic told me i have to go back to oem parts even though it was working with the heavier duty clutch and pressure plates?

thats not true.. the t56's are very strong tranny's.... but its the driver that damages it... it depends on how hard you are on it..

the clutch wont break the transmission, like harvick gm said, its the driver that will do that. I dont know why he wants you to go back to stock oem stuff, it might be he has a mark up on it if he has a business of his own, but then he could just get you heavy dudty one and still get a mark up on it i guess. how wierd, id go get a second opinion or something.

i got a custom built stage 3, kevlar clutch from maddog racing off of ebay... great clutch, i have put maybe 10k miles on it so far, with out a problem... i run the hell outta it too..and it still grabs strong.. and trust me it grabs... its got chatter in it, but you get used to it.. it sounds better bringing the rpms up to around 2k and easing out of the clutch... it really turns heads... but the clutch it the TO bearing and pressure plate and clutch package and for a really great price... i will see if i can find a link to one...

the reason why he prob wants you to go back to the OEM clutch it he gets a discount on it and can upcharge you on it.

tell him you have bought both of them already and see what he says. LOL
