Default 408 and t88 tuning options

I have a 98 model z 28 that is going to get a 408 and t88, and I am wanting to know my best option for tuning. I can get 98 hp tuner 2 bar, change the engine harness to a 2000 and run 3 bar, or use megasquirt. I want to be able to control boost per gear and tune the car per boost level and not with just pe table. I dont know all that much about the different bar tuners but 98 is speed density tune only correct? Then 2 bar allows me up to 14.7 psi fuel control, then 3 bar goes 29 psi? Any other differences, just correct injector offset for the injectors and tune the car in boost?

I am thinking that my best best is to buy a megasquirt and have full control over all fueling and use hp tuner for timing. Give me your guys opinion, also if I choose that route who has them and provides customer service?
