Default Which Headers?

A friend of mine is wanting some headers for his 01 SS 6spd. It currently runs 12.7-12.9's consistently on Nitto's at 109-110. He has a lid, and a MAF sensor. What types of gains is he lookin at with a set of longtubes and off road Y pipe? Also which ones have a good fit? Thanks for the help

Headers will add approx. 20-25 RWHP. An ORP will approx. 5 RWHP. Time wise I would guess he should look at gains from 2 to 4 tenths. Hooker, FLP, TTS, and SLP all make great headers.

Call Thunder Racing and get a set of their Thunder Racing coated long tubes. Same Jig as the Grotts. I just installed mine a few weeks back and they went on nicely.FWIW, I tookoff SLPs to run these

I agree...call Barry at QTP, thunder may supply the same product at the same price, but I can only speak about a company I'm doing biz with and can say from experience that Barry has been great to deal with. I'm 2 weeks away from his grotty style headers myself. (Being built)

I have been dying to say this.....

Well as far as i am concerned, all I's know is that I LOVE MY HOOKERS. They sure are good to me, best damn hookers I ever owned.

P.S. to get the true effect you have to say it in a real REDNECK voice.

Thanks for the replies. I'll show him the websites (doesn't have internet access) and have him call around. The QTP's look like some nice pieces as do the TR's.

I realy like the hookers they fit well, great ground clearance and no false knock that I know of. The LT's will improve the throttle responce imencely not to mention the gain in HP.

Good luck Aaron

Hookers offer the combination of great fit and great price. Especially since you are looking for ORP. It's a no brainer.

How are the QTP's as far as ground clearance on a lowered car? I don't like the way SLP's hang and haven't seen any others. Also, can you get the dual cutout y-pipe with cats?

Can't touch that deal! I was going to get the 1 7/8" QTP's but with the Y pipe, these were 1/3 the price. Couldn't pass it up.

Also, I heard barry at QTP is making some 1 7/8" in stainless for all us Michigan boys... Hmmm...

I have no expierence with the QTP headers, but the last time I was at the track I met a guy who had them
1)His car was awesome looking, NBM just like mine
2)It was lowered
3)It had QTP LT's on it, DAMNNNNNNNNNN did they look good, and they fit under there really well, he said he hasn't had any problems with the headers hitting the ground either!
4) The whole reason I went up to him was to ask him what type of exhaust system he had because it clearly sounded the best out of all the cars that ran that day, he had the Corsa system with the QTP headers, I bought the corsa and it sounds great, now all I need is the QTP's and it'll sound just like his. DAMNNNN it sounded good, I am drooling just thinking about it

Can't wait to file my tax returns, once I get that check its QTP time......Damn it I am getting that buying itch back, it was almost gone since the car is in storage
