I found an '00 ws6 6speed for $19,000. Even in excellent condition kelly blue book is $14,380. I know kbb has never been "on" when it comes to these cars. Would $15,000 be a fair place to start? What would you guys suggest? This is a private seller by the way. I'm sure you're tired of hearing me ask these questions, so help me find a car!

btw- nada lists the car base price at $15,500 and with options at $18,200 for retail.

FWIW it seems the prices for the WS6/SS are going up up up, local (to me) search shows none for under 25k

4k under what hes asking a good place? you would insult the guy. and Ive never seen a 98 or 99 vette sell for less than 18k with a ton of miles on it.

That's how they've been in my area for over a year now. Now you see why it's been so hard for me...and me being picky doesn't help haha.

This is a 00 black on black ws6 with 13,300 miles, 6spd, looks in mint condition, borla exhaust, new tires.

It sounds like it would be a better idea if you broadened your search accross the U.S., and budget in shipping. You can get a car shipped for $800 a good 4-5 states away.

My search isn't limited by miles, only price, year, and m6.
I had thought about flying to wherever it is then driving it back, but I guess getting it shipped would be about the same price. What companies would do the shipping?

$17,000 sounds like a good place to start. You're right it definitely has to have been a weekend toy, just what I'm looking for.

Well I live on a dirt/gravel road, (and have some OCD issues) so it's a royal PITA
I usually wash it at least twice a week (tho I'll usually do it more often)
Invest in a PC, some sonus pads (orange and blue), and some Menzerna IP&FP2, and an electric leaf blower, gotta keep the swirls off , other than that I keep it clean, and well waxed, dust it with a california car duster, and it usually stays looking pretty good
FWIW you will drive yourself crazy if you nit pick the paint, black shows EVERYTHING, so calm the OCD, and view it like this "If it gets too bad you can always reclear/repaint"

FWIW, i paid $20k for my loaded 02 ws6 6speed with 13,500 miles back in november.

and keeping a black car looking great is very hard and time consuming, especially now in pollen season!

well around here that is the retail price but ta are a little over priced around here and as for the corvette i will trade my Z28 for one thats 15k i have never seen a C5 for that price assuming that the car is in one piece and runs

Thanks alot man, I'll look into those things if I go with this car, or any of them. I'd probably wash it once a week. The duster is a great idea, I'd probably use that more than anything just to keep the pollen and such off. btw-what is a pc?

So it seems like 19g or something close to it is a decent deal for this car and in my area (ny area). Thanks guys, any other thoughts or advice?

Oh yeah, I've decided this will be my weekend, summer, nice weather car. So maybe I could get a cover for it and cover it every once in a while, like when it snows (obviously) or rains.

PC = Porter Cable 7424 random orbit polisher/sander. Take off the stock backing plate and add a flexible one and some polishing pads, and compounds, and you have a very nice way to get rid of swirls, and other paint defects without the worry of f**king up your paint (like you can with a rotary)
BTW covers aren't a good idea, they can damage the paint, the only way to use a cover is with inside storage (garage), to keep the dust off (Wash the car before putting a cover on it)

Do you have to plug it in or are they battery operated also? Stupid apartments...Can the duster be used just get off the pollen etc. without scrapping the paint? (Like some people will go over their car with a dry towel; bad idea) BTW the guy says he has someone coming Monday to make an offer along with about 5 people who are interested in it. I'll work out something with my bank and see how it goes, wish me luck.

Good Luck
The PC you have to plug in, so get a loooooong extension cord, or go visit a buddy with a garage
To dust the car go over it lightly, just enough to pick up the dust, and you should be fine (wrap the duster in newspaper for 24 hrs prior to use or it'll leave streaks)
And don't believe everything the guy says, for all you know you might have been the only call
