How long should High flow cats last on header install with no dyno tune?
I installed my QTPs about a month ago and now my driver side cat on the catted y pipe broke up. It doesnt seem like it should have happened anyways b/c I have all of the emmisions hooked up. I didnt get the car tuned by anyone but I did use the slp diablosport. Is that a problem or could it just bea defective cat. And if it is do you think QTP would send me another?

I think my passenger side is doing the same thing. I can hear some rattling coming from that side of the car, and my car is getting louder. I've had mine in since I put my LT's in about 3 months ago...but I had the A.I.R. system removed, so that might have something to do with mine.

yea but it should have lasted longer right. i mean come on. about 1 month out of the cat. And I dont drive it all of the time. I might have put like 300-500 miles on the car scince the install.

Now if you're missing a spark plug or have an air leak and there's extra air getting in with the fuel, it will break them up in no-time.

Any air with enough O2 in it to help combustion when the fuel hits the cats.
BTW, I'm also not suggesting cats will last forever on a rich tune. This was really more of an FYI/general statement than a "this is what's happening to your car". Cats break up for lots of reasons, rich tunes included.
Best bet is to have your tune fixed before you have your cats fixed.
