Default In 3rd & 4th gear around 5k rpm, the car feels like its loosing power! Please help!

I dont know what it is! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> I got custom tuning and dyno runs in yesterday and before that it only did it in 4th, but now it does it in 3rd too. <img border="0" alt="[cry]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" /> Im sure there is a reasonable explanation for this matter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> I hope its nothing major! Any help will be appreciated! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Thanks

Nothing to go on, here, but if it got worse
after tuning that says something. Like,
"refund". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I think it's a tuning problem. When I had the Hypertech Power Program in my car it felt really strong out of the hole but fell on it's face around 4,000 rpms because it was leaning out. Have you noticed any pinging? Can you scan the car to see how much knock retard you are getting. My guess is you are going way lean and cause the car to detonate which inturn is setting of the knock sensor and retarding your timing. If you don't have a scan tool you could try this trick. Fill your car will Sunoco GT plus unleaded 100 octane or a similar race gas. When I ran that gas with the HPP3 the car ran fine but on 93 it pinged. It got to be so much a pain in the *** i removed the HPP from the car. Now the car pulls extremely hard all the way into the red line.

Do you have an underdrive pulley? Some underdrive pulley's have shown dips in the dyno graph at ~5k from a harmonic imbalance.
Auto or manual? Is the "losing power" on paper (the dyno shows it) or is the car physically slowing it's acceleration while driving? Plug wires...ever replaced? How about spark plugs? Does the car pick back up later in the rev range, or does it lose power from 5k and up?

Sorry that my questions are in random order, but I just listed them as they came to mind. Give a list of your mods to better aid in our troubleshooting.

The car has new plugs and wires. I do have an underdrive pulley. It is manual. It loses power while driving at those rpms and on the dyno. When Im really hammering it, I can feel it losing power around 5k rpm and then it kicks back up and starts pulling again.

Just an idea but what about your pcv sucking in oil. I noticed the same thing and when I watched my car on tape it seemed to smoke way more at higher rpms. Just something to check.

Never thought of the PCV thing....but I did replace it just a few days ago. Im going to MTI to see if they can fix it. Im sure its not a mechanical problem because before I had the tuning done, it only did it in 4th. So hopefully its a tuning problem. Ill update you guys when I get back from there, thanks.
