Rebuilt LT1 Hi folks,
Well, I have finally put one-too-many road course laps on my '96 Impala SS and it's time for a rebuild. Since I am building another car for the road course, I am looking for a relatively stock rebuild to my steel-head LT1.
I would like to go with forged internals, but stock compression to run pump gas. Maybe a slightly higher rev cam, but keeping the stock heads and intake.
The problem with the (4,400 pound) Impala is, as soon as you start building torque and HP, the 4L60E and diff start to fail (quickly). If I could spend the $$$ to do a T56 and new Eaton ($6k), I could put a fire-breather under the hood. That will have to wait.
So, if anyone has used a sponsor for a similar rebuild, I would like to hear of your experiences. Also, sponsors, please feel free to drop me a line. I would like to make my decision by the end of this week as this is my daily-driver.
