big blocks in 4th gen f-body
how many people run big blocks in 4th gen f-bodys.how much mods are needed to make it fit and can you actually work on the engine in the car?Do they make headers to fit or is it all custom?What kind of ignition system are you running.Any info would be great. Thanks.

I know that there are a couple of guys that started with an F-body and made high-end drag cars out of them with big blocks. Search the web, you might find the page.

i know somebody that took GM's latest big block, the Mark IV I think? the 7.4l fuel injected motor they put in the big trucks into a corvette <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

I have to ask why you'd do this. You can have a 427" plus LSx motor that is lighter and has equally as good if not better heads.
You can make a 454" LS1 also <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> .

While you can get the same displacement as some big blocks, you can't get the same amount of airflow from the heads. I'm willing to bet that even race-ported C5R heads won't flow as much as some equally ported BBC heads. Once someone improves upon our head design, you might be correct.

As for the vette with the big block I know him from friends I race with its a 530 ci motor carb motor on the bottle. He just gernaded that this past season.A little juice happy.Why I want to do this is, I run sb right now but I use to run big blocks in my chevelle when I had it and never had any problems didnt have to wind the motor to 10 and it stayed together alot better less to maintain with no power adders. I could get 850 hp out of the motor without alot of money and didnt have to inspect it every season and could still get more out of the motor if I wanted. I could stroke the sb but how strong and long will it last compared to the bb. Its just a opinion debate. I just wanted to see how much work I am going to have to do to wedge this motor in there.
