Default TR5, TR6 or which plug for Powerdyne blower.

A friend of mine just bought a Z28 with a Powerdyne blower. Its only pushing 4Lbs of boost but it came with TR5 plugs in it. Since I am not Forced Induction savy I was wondering if you guys could tell me which plug to put i in there. I thought the TR5 was a bit hot??

Basically the car has headers and a blower and thats it.

Thanks!

I ran TR6's when I had the powerdyne. Worked great.

Cheers

Chrispy what can my friend do to get the most out of the powerdyne. He bought the car super cheap with it on there. Runs good, zero problems. It has 4Lbs of boost and MAC mid lengths, thats about it.

Is he running the stock powerdyne air intake setup?

If so have him ditch it. I picked up 4mph (not a typo) by going to a conical K&N filter routed up into the drivers side fenderwell. Big difference in power.

I bought an LT1 rad shroud and used that instead of the LS1 to make it look factory. The air filter/intake change made a BIG difference.

BTW I dynoed 435RWHP and 433RWTQ on the bone stock motor with the powerdyne, air intake mod and MAC mid length headers. best time with stock motor and above mods was 11.40@124mph with the sixspeed and 3.73 gears.

Cheers,
Chris

It's nothing by todays standards but back then it was ok for stock tuning (IAT tricks and FMU, no LS1edit back then)

Just wanted to show him what he can expect from 4-5#'s boost with that setup.

I also ran a different fan setup as well. The stuff supplied by Powerdyne wasn't up to 90-100 degree days at all.

With todays tuning and the six pound pulley I think you could hit 460-470RWHP with that setup.

Quick Reply: TR5, TR6 or which plug for Powerdyne blower.
