Well if its your first time to install headers like it was mine, itll take about 10-15 hours Be sure to have a full metric socket set and wrench set. The only standard wrench you'll need is a 7/8 (I think) for the O2 sensors. You'll need a jack and jack stands and anti-seize for the header bolts. And get new oem header gaskets from a GM dealer. Don't use the Hooker ones. That's all I can think of at 3:05am.

The first Hooker install I did (on my car, with the help of a friend) took 14 hours.
The second Hooker install I did (on friend"s car) only took 5 1/2 hours!

8 hrs is the fastest I've done from pulling the car in to rolling it out ... for headers & Y.
Good Point on the spark plugs..... have a fresh set to swap in while the manifolds are off. AND, if you got higher mileage OR just want to upgrade.. NOW is the time for wires !

I **** you not!
We (me and Slow Z28) Started at 8:30 on a Friday night and stopped around 12:30. Our goal was to just get off the stock garbage, and then finish in the morning. After about 2 hour we had the manifolds & y-pipe off, the steering linkage off, and so on. We were making such headway we decided to keep going. By 12:30 we had the driverside done (including new spark plugs), and the passengerside bolted up. In the morning we put the new plugs in the passengerside, put the y-pipe on, and hooked the AIR & EGR up in about an hour and a half.

it took me 5 1/2 - 6hrs for Grotts. It depends if you are somewhat pointed in a direction andif you have the tools right there handy. If you have to look for tools, or have to call poeple up to ask what to do next, it will take longer.
id advise to have someone help you. I had just one of my friends who did nothing but either hold things in place, or hand tools to me. It was a huge help.

Re: How long would it take to install hooker LT and Y
I have a ramp, so my car was about 5.5ft off the ground for the install The only bad part was I had to stand only on the 2 sides of the ramp when working on top in the engine compartment From start to finish it took about 13 hours. 4-5 hours of that was in the dark while it was raining, another 1-2 hours was fooling with the AIR and EGR tubes. I reworked my stock 2000 tubes to work on the 2001+ Hooker headers. Do as everyone has said, take off everything, the coil pack, the oil diverter plate, and the steering shaft. I reused the stock gaskets, and put new plugs in since they had to be taken out anyway. Good luck and wear some gloves, I came away looking like I'd ripped out a thorn bush by hand when I was done.

Re: How long would it take to install hooker LT and Y
It took me about 15 hours. I did piddle around a lot. Did it all by myself. I spent a couple of those hours messing with the AIR Tubes. (I put 98-99 Hooker headers on a 2002 Z) I reused the stock gaskets as well.
Best advice I can give. Take your time and remove all the parts you need to. (steering shaft, oil diverter, and coil packs.) You'll need to remove the spark plugs as well. Take off the wires while your at it. It gives you more room. The higher you can get your car the better. I had the rear tires on ramps and the front on stands. I had to jack up the passenger side to get the header in though. Then put it back on the stands to finish up. You will also want to loosen up all the manifold bolts before you get it up in the air.
Have fun. They are worth the effort!
