Default MAF porting complete, but I have 2 questions???

1) It seems like the stock oil pressure guage is reading higher, it might be that I didn't really pay any attention to it before though. Would this be caused my this mod? It is running right around 40 at idle, 55-60 at normal driving, and about 70 under full throttle.

2) Do I need to reset the computer to let the car adjust to this mod??

Thanks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The ported MAF will NOT cause a higher oil PSI reading... unless... Your car is idleing higher now? when I had a 85mm MAF on my '98 T/A it idled higher for some reason.

Porting your MAF should not affect your oil pressure. But, porting does more harm then good. here is real proof of it last Sat at Norris's dyno day at his shop. We had around 60 people there having their cars dynoed. Every car that had a stock MAF ported ran lean. Losted HP. Mike Norris told us all, that is a bad MOD.

I hear autos like to run mid to high 13.x to 1 a/f's with a ported MAF. I would not port the MAF on an auto. However on my 00 m6 I have ported it and I am stil seeing mid to low 12.x to 1 a/f's. I would like to lean it out a little more. Wierd stuff.

Not only does it not see as much air, it also sees it as being less of a load, and messes up load calculation tables (this is why the A4 guys have problems with trannys, due to line pressure, controled by load of the motor)

There is no gain in porting a maf, get LS1 edit, and recalibrate the computer.

Mafts are a bandaid approach as well, might gain a little, at the cost, of "tricking" the computer.

Would be better to set up the car correct, and retune it to be more agressive.

Ryan.
(this is why my maf is staying stock)

I would agree that if you have higher oil pressure at idle, it's probably because the engine is idling higher; just a 100 rpms could give a higher psi reading.
Also from what I've seen on the boards over the years, a ported MAF is/could be a mod that works better on '98s, as they seem to respond really well to less reported air flow.(thereby leaning the A/F ratio). On later models, it seems to be hit or miss.
I've never ported the MAF on my Y2K, but through lid, FRA,catback,TC and "fully" ported TB the pcm has adjusted the LTerms w/in around 60 miles of highway driving.
I've never seen a radical change from resetting the pcm on my {admittedly} simple mods.
-I know, too much information- <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
