AC Delco. Everyone's been bad-mouthing Delco batteries just because they let a few leakers get out on some of the '02 F bods. I've had my '02 SS since May--absolutely no problems. My '99 SS Delco also had absolutely no battery problems in the 3 yrs. I kept the car. WJ.

I'de go with a Duralast Gold or a Optima Red Top.

I would have to disagree with the Delco b/c I pulled into a parking lot and I turned the car off and talked to a buddy for like 2 whole minutes and went to hit the ignition and it just clicked. LUCKILY my dad was riding through in his dually(which is equipped with 2 batteries) and I switched him the old delco for a NEVERSTART! and went on my way. I don't know what happened but that battery hasn't given my dad ANY trouble since but it just wouldn't start my car.

I too must disagree about the AC Delco. I had that crap battery in my 99 for a while and out of nowhere it would die. It started leaking right at the positive terminal so it had to go quick. I went with the Optima red top and haven't had a problem yet. As far as I'm concerned it's worth every penny (quite a few) that I paid.

I have found the AutoZone Gold series to be the best battery for the money. Good luck with your choice.

I work at an Autozone and have to tell you that in just the past week I sold 56 batteries. Of those 10 were to people with 2001 or newer chevy cars, 7 wich were camaros, 3 ls1's. The AC delco just doesnt last as long. Why ,I really dont know. As for a replacement The Duralast gold is good rated at 1000 ca, but if you got a little more money definitely the red top.

Ac Delco,
Mine leaked all over the damn frame and sway bar. Now I have an Energizer from Pep Boys with 110 RC to run my stereo.

Get the Autozone Duralast Gold!!!.....It has a 3 year free replacement warranty and some other kind of warranty.....so just incase...you do happen to get a bad battery.....they'll take care of you....free battery testing, battery charge, even alternator testing so when it isn't the battery.....you'll know.......what more do you want....and its even cheaper!!!!....common sense dude!!!.....just my two cents....BTW..whenever I bought my Z...which was used @39K....It came with the Autozone Duralast Gold battery....so whoever had it last ditched the AC Delco battery ....it obviously didn't last that long to begin with.....so I agree against AC Delco battery!!!!!!.......It may be factory but even factory **** has flaws!!!

In my last two Camaros the AC batteries just barely got through warranty. Replaced both times with Interstate.

Muscratmauler, why not get the Optima?

I have had 2 delco batteries die in my 99 TA. The first was replaced under warranty, the second started leaking around the positive terminal.

I installed a Red top Optima and it has worked flawlessly.

In any event, there have been a lot of stock AC/Delco batteries that have leaked around the + terminal. I would not take that as all ACs are bad, but there have been a significant number of stock F-bod batteries with this same problem reported on the car boards over the past couple 'a years.
Oh, and my two F-bods w/bad AC batteries were a '96 and an '00. The '96 just quit while driving to work one AM; the '00 leaked so bad around the + terminal that replacing the terminal bolt yielded two more days of driving before all the zinc plating was corroded.
 Seems to be hit or miss. I just offer this as info. Still love my car.

I don't think we sell that many batteries a week and I think we have one of the largest stores in the nation. We don't sell as much as others but we have a HUGE store.

Duralast Gold's are the way to go.

FASTMOVER, I'm not saying the Delcos are good but the Optimas spiral design puts a lot more stress on the plates inside. Won't last as long as a regular battery

The Delco batteries that come stock (or are replaced under warranty) are crap. They usually only last about 3 years and that's it. HOWEVER...the 7 year Delco Pro premium battery will last much longer; it's actually a very good battery. I've seen those last 6+ years even in a cold midwest climate. I plan on replacing the stock Delco with a 7 year Delco when the time comes on my TA.
