Thumbs up Magnacharged C6 Vette Track Results

I finally made a visit to HRP tonight to try out the new setup on the 2005 Corvette, consisting of a Magnacharger at 5 psi boost, 230/230 114 cam, and LG longtube headers with a Magnaflow catback. The car is a Z51 coupe, 6-speed manual. Raceweight was 3500 lbs even, temps 88F outside. The car was on 17" drag radials. Granny shifting to keep the rearend in one piece.

Best ET was 11.37 @ 126.7 with a 1.84 60'
Best MPH was 11.47 @ 129.5 with a 1.95 70'

The higher MPH pass was done after letting the car cool down for an hour. The best ET pass was just a better launch. Too bad I couldn't get the combo on the same pass. The car ran 103 mph in the 1/8-mile on the 11.47 pass. Ran two more hot laps and didn't improve any.

I didn't manage to escape the track without breaking something though. Put a nice hairline crack about 6 inches long on the back of my differential housing, causing some pretty bad oil leakage. I managed to drive the car home 25 miles though, and will diagnose any further damage tomorrow. Hopefully its just the housing and nothing else.

But hey, thats racing! Had a great time anyways.

Tony

The thing really hauls *** down the track! That blower sounds soooo weird!

Yeah we couldnt get our best 1/8th and 60ft to be on our best pass either!

Sorry to hear about the rearend. Now Im afraid to go look under Matt's car!

Yeah, I noticed a nice film of oil covering the entire rear of my car just before we left. Stopped at a gas station and saw a puddle forming and the crack.

Time for an upgrade These things suck worse than f-body rearends. Breaking **** on a 1.8X 60' time on radials. bleh

Those C6's seem to be a little weaker on the rearend. I know the mounting points are different so thats why it could have cracked. We destroyed our Output Shaft when we were out in it. It did not like that one LOL!

Next is the tranny! MTI has half and we have the other half of our Input Shaft that ripped itself in half.

If you didn't break something... you wouldn't have been trying hard enough

Nice numbers with those slow 60ft!

How does it weigh 3500 lbs? They weigh ~3170 stock, IIRC.

Nice runs, though, sucks about the rear.....

yeah, I was also surprised at the piggy weight. That Magnacharger kit isn't light, probably added 100 lbs total. I'm pretty sure the car weighed 3405 lbs before I added the blower. Also, the rear wheels I had on (Z06 fakes) were heavier than my 19" forged wheels.

Congrats Tony, that's damn impressive. Guess it's time to upgrade the rear, but upgrading parts shouldn't be a new thing to you

What did they make the rear out of anyway, peanut brittle Guess even the granny shifting wasn't enough to make that thing live... sad.

I'll tell ya, this kind of stuff right here is why I think the new camaro is gonna be a failure... the total lack of strenth in the IRS rear ends is even worse then a 10 bolt, I think that the IRS is a huge step backwards from the 10 bolt.... hopefully they will get their head out of their *** and offer teh new camaro with a real rear in it. (12 bolt)

Good times though!
